How does the IB look at Palmer?

• Authorized by the IB in 1991 (Diploma) and 1998 (MYP, with North Middle School)

• A magnet for the entire Pikes Peak region• Full complement of IB classes grades 9 – 12

– MYP classes

– MYP honors classes

– A combination of the two

• Students fully integrated into athletics, clubs and electives at Palmer.

• Diploma graduation rate exceeds the world avg

Page 25: International Baccalaureate World School Palmer High School.

How are we changing?

• Palmer MYP no longer offers a “one size fits all” program restricted solely by academic performance.

• 9th and 10th grade course selections aim to provide appropriate rigor for a range of academic abilities.

• Honors level: based on evidence of above grade-level work, demonstrated student motivation, independence in learning, complexity of content

Page 26: International Baccalaureate World School Palmer High School.

Inside an MYP Classroom

• These are traits common to all MYP classes, regardless of whether they are instructed at an honors or grade-level.
