He ha s always had an interest in Sports Medicine and chronic injuries and he undertook post graduate training in Musculoskeletal Medicine. In 2003 he was trained in Adelaide, Australia, in Prolotherapy by Dr. Margaret Taylor. He developed a new type of Prolotherapy, wich is now called Neural Prolotherapy (NPT) but he also known as Perineural Subcutaneous Injections (PSI) or Perineural Injection Treatment (PIT).

Dr. Lyftogt has published seven papers and is co-author of a RCT on the treatment of Achilles tendinosis, wich was published in The British Journal of Sports Medicine in June 2009 and reprin-ted in April 2011.

Dr. Lyftogt is currently working as a sole practitioner at a fi tness centre in Christchurch, New Zealand after the large multi disciplinary centre for sports injuries and rehabilitation he was working in severaly damaged by the devasting 2011 earthquakes in Christchurch.

Dr. Lyftogt has conducted fi fteen 2-3 day Introductory Workshops in Neural Prolotherapy over the past 4 years in New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Neatherlands, USA and Mexico. Over 500 Health Practitioners from twelve different countries have attended these worshops. Dr. Lyftogt is at the forefront of major developments and discoveries into the treatment of neuropathic pain with Transdermal Drug Delivery modalities like Neural Prolotherapy, Prolophoresis and Transdermal condiments. These tratments are effective, hrmless and economical. They are based on the latest developments in the neurosciences and understanding of the neurobio-logy of the Peripheral Nervous System.
