    LEGEND

The basins located in the centralpart of the continental shelf and in

the south of the country, are one

of the least explored areas, despite

    having geological and geophysical

    information of regional nature.

For this reason, has beenprioritized the promotion and

    contracting of these areas for

hydrocarbon exploration. For this, has been defined nine blocks in five

offshore basins, to be integrated in

    the International Bidding Round.

Geologically  blocks are locatedparallel to the shoreline, following

the main trend of offshore basins,

    thereby increasing the probability to

    define “complete” structures, in the

same direction and with enough area

to conduct the development of a

    discovery.

The offshore sedimentary basins, due to their location, are one of the least exploredgeological areas in Peru, although for more than a century were discovered hydrocarbons inthe north coast. Currently, this area has the highest daily and cumulative oil production in Peru.

LimaBasinOn the North part of Lima basin, has been set up oneblock for the International Bidding Round to grant Offshore License

    Contracts.

Block Z-50 borders to the East with Blocks with current contractsZ-48 and Z-49, to the South borders with Block Z-51, and West with

the Lima basin boundary. This block has a fair amount of 2D seismicdata, but has not identified any exploration prospects yet.

    Maturity Model in the Cretaceous:

    93-75 Seismic Line located between

the northern part of Pisco basin and

    southern of Lima Basin, showing

    Cretaceous kitchen.

Unexplored basin, with many geologicalpossibilities. Lack to confirm the Petroleum

System in the basin. It needs more geological and

    geophysical studies.

There is recent technical information in Trujillo and Pisco basins, surrounding the area.

It is estimated that Lima basin has the same

    Petroleum System than Trujillo basin.

There have been conducted geologicaland geophysical studies by various companies

in the coastal areas of Lima, Pisco and Paracas,

having collected 49 samples for geochemical

analysis. From these analyzes it was concluded

that the Ambo Group of Carboniferous is the

main Source Rock of Pisco and Lima Basins,

being the same source rock of hydrocarbons inCamisea.

Islets and “Puntas Guaneras“. Block Z-54 also partially borders to the

East with the Paracas National Reserve. To the West, the boundary of

the 3 Blocks is approximately Pisco basin boundary.

All of these Blocks have good amount of recently 2D seismicinformation, but no exploratory Wells have been drilled in the

offshore area. The Prospects and leads showed have been defined

Inside Pisco Basin has been identified an activePetroleum System with a Carboniferous Source Rock,

capable to generate hydrocarbons, mainly light oil and

    gas-condensate.

In outcrops were observed Excellent ReservoirRocks in Choros Formation of the Tertiary, with

porosity and permeability of 34% and 533 milidarcies,

    respectively.

Sandstones with a strong oil smell in ChorosFormation, suggest that hydrocarbon generationcomes from Ambo Group of the Carboniferous.

Dark limestone from Pariatambo Formation of theCretaceous with strong oil smell, could be principal or

    secondary Reservoir Rock.

The field geology and seismic interpretation, as

well as drillings made through Oceanographic DrillingProgram (ODP) have identified possible Seal Rocks

present in the basin, which belong to Pisco Formation

of the Upper Miocene, recovering the reservoirs of

    Choros Formation.

Tectonic trenches and sub-basins types of “pull-apart” from post-Eocene age, associated with strike-

slip faults and gravitational and rotational movements

were caused by a major extensional event, being this

predominant structural style for hydrocarbon traps

forming. This structural style was recently confirmed

by field geology and a new seismic interpretation at

    regional level.

Salaverry-TrujilloBasinsIn Salaverry-Trujillo basins, have been set up 2 new Blocksfor the International Bidding Round to grant Offshore License

    Contracts.

Lobos and Morsa North exploratorywells found significant samples of oil during thedrilling. Also, has been detected and obtained

hydrocarbon samples in natural outcrops on the sea

surface, which have demonstrated the existence of an

active Petroleum System in this basin.

To the north of Trujillo, in Talara basin, the

most important Source Rock is Muerto Formation(Lower Cretaceous). In Trujillo Basin, Lobos 1X

    Main factors for Blocks configuration:

    1. The West boundary of Trujillo basin.

    2. The presence of a “hypothetical” Petroleum System in Trujillobasin.

Mollendo basin is a structural depressionbetween the Coast Cordillera and the Peruvian

Trench. Along the shoreline outcrops the

    Precambrian Metamorphic Complex, which is

covered by clastic and carbonate sediments of

the Paleozoic, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous,

extending westward into Mollendo basin. Tertiary sequences dominated by deltaic-

fluvial clastic sediments and marine cover the

    oldest rocks on a discordance.

Have been found some asphalt layersin Lower and Middle Jurassic formations,

indicating the presence of potential Source

Rocks in this basin completely unexplored,

    with many probabilities for hydrocarbon

    exploration.

STRUCTURAL STYLE: Extensional tectonics with pillars and Tectonic Trench creation. Half of

the trenches in the depressions are truncated by an erosional surface.
