servants, social workers, bankers etc.

3. The Context:
Competitive exam is different from other regular exams in its approach and understanding.
As the name itself suggests, the cut throat competition is the distinctive characteristic of it.
This exam requires knowledge of all fields, from arts to science, from quantitative skills to
language proficiency. It requires aspirant to be ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. The
educational background of an aspirant is not that of much importance. Competitive exam
brings students of all backgrounds on the same platform. This aspect was to our benefit
because our college has students of four streams that is science, commerce, arts and computer
science.
Being on the outskirts of the Pune city, the college has inflow of students from lower middle
class and rural area who do not otherwise have access to such guidance programme regarding
the competitive examinations. Competitive Examinations Centre was established for
coaching these students to compete for different examinations conducted by Maharashtra
Public Service Commission (MPSC) and Banking examinations conducted by the
Institution of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
4. The Practice
The Centre provides classroom teaching by experts in the respective domain. The students are
provided with books, AC study room, LCD Projector, free internet, mock tests and mock
interviews to sharpen their competitive skills. There is a separate AC study room for girls.
The centre also provides opportunity for the students to interact with previous successful
candidates. The students are also benefited by live lectures broadcast by Rayat Shikshan
Sanstha through video conferencing.
