These guidelines present the basic graphic standards for internal Group events. It is important to comply with the standards so that everyone will associate the events with our brand.

1 — Basic GraphicStandards

1 — Identity / Color Palette

Our color palette is organized into three levels by order of importance.

• Level 1 is made up solely of Total red, the brand's identifying color, which we must capitalize on. It should be present in all productions, even in small swatches, to instantly alert our targets that they are reading a Total document. Don't forget, however, that red can be perceived in certain countries as a warning sign. Be sure to take cultural associations with this color into account.

• Level 2 is made up of five accompanying colors, including three that are directly derived from the colors of the logo (orange, blue, light blue). A warm gray and crimson red complement this level to allow for the broadest use possible.

• Level 3 is made up of complementary colors used in special circumstances when the number of colors in levels 1 and 2 of the palette are insufficient, such as in illustrations, data visualizations and complex diagrams.

Note: Half-tones varying from 20% to 80% may also be used. Never use half-tones for the type, as they can be difficult to read.

Word processing typeface

Three typeface families and their variants are recommended when creating titles/headlines and text. Arial is used for word processing applications.

• Helvetica Neue is the main typeface. It must be used for front page titles/headlines to guarantee consistency across all media. It may also be used for all other types of text, such as headings, subheadings and ordinary text.

• Helvetica Neue Condensed is primarily used when there are restrictions, such as in areas with size limits or captions for diagrams, data visualizations, etc.

• Museo, which comes in serif and sans serif versions, may be used for inside pages, either alone or with Helvetica Neue, to structure the text and direct reading.

• Arial is mainly used for word processing applications, such as Word and PowerPoint presentations.

Template

To ensure that people associate the event with the brand, it is crucial to comply with the rules set out in the Total Graphic Standards.The name of an event always includes a title and sometimes a sub-tit:

• Title (name and year of the event).• Sub-title (date/location), justified left under the title.

The title can only feature two colors (Total red and gray) from Level 1 and Level 2 of the Total color palette (see page 4). The typeface used is Helvetica Neue, in compliance with the Total Graphic Standards (see page 5). It is used in light and bold font, as shown in the diagram below.

If the title and the sub-title are of similar length, it is recommended that you create a block to obtain a balanced title.Different examples are shown below. In exceptional circumstances and if a vertical format is being used, the event name can be printed on two lines.

As shown below, an event may require different types of badges for:• Participants • Service providers• Organizers• Others

The badges are two-sided. The front features the name of the event under the Total logo, placed in the gradient band, in the upper left-hand corner. The name of the participant and his or her business segment or division are printed under the name of the event.

The back of the badge may include practical information, such as the participant's working group, room information, WiFi details, the seating plan, etc. Special staff badges may be issued to external service providers. Staff badges are one-sided. The word "STAFF" and the name of the event appear in the center, without the Total logo.

You may also create an on-line Total platform where participants can register for the event and obtain basic information. The on-line platform, as well as the various documents hosted on it, must comply with Total's Graphic Standards.

Please refer to the digital charter available at the Brand Center to ensure that the platform complies with style guidelines.

Prior to an internal event, participants are sent various e-mails, including invitation, reminder, transfer and confirmation messages.

The Total logo gradient band is placed at the top left-hand side of the e-mail, and the name of the event appears just below, justified left.

The body of the message is set in Arial, justified left and right, and aligned with the vertical bar of the "T" in Total (see the example below).

Staging is another way to identify the brand via the use of various support materials, such as furniture, lighting or a stage. The different graphic standards presented in these guidelines help to maintain a consistent global profile, while enabling strong brand identification.

When an event requires staging and the venue permits, it is crucial for the brand to be present. The Total logotype and the event title should always appear on a solid white background and be lit only with a white light.

When the background has two sections, place the event title on the left-hand side and the Total logotype on the right-hand side. If the stage is configured differently, adapt the logo placement in a balanced manner, always leaving the recommended clear space.

Luminescent LEDs can be used in certain venues.If this is the case, Total light blue and Total orange from the level 2 color palette are recommended.

Total's visual signature

A variety of audiovisual tools may be used during presentations to express the brand's image. A packshot of the Total logotype, a visual loop and a jingle are available at the brand center.

The packshot is used as a video signature, when a speaker is finished.

The Total jingle is Kavinksy's "Roadgame", used for the Committed to Better Energy advertising campaign. Use of the jingle must be declared to SACEM in France (see local legislation for other compliance requirements). We recommend that you contact the relevant organizations directly for instructions.
