WITH HOMES IN NEW YORK AND LONDON, IT’S NO WONDERthe owners of this sprawling 10,000-square-foot manse set their sites on The Bear’s Clubin Jupiter, Fla., when they decided to build their dream golf getaway.

The Bear’s Club, a world-class golf and club experience that boasts unparalleled privacyand luxurious amenities, is one of the southeast’s most prestigious golf course communities.“The husband is a very serious golfer,” interior designer Lorraine Rogers-Bolton says.

“He envisioned great public spaces for entertaining and comfortable guestrooms thatwould accommodate friends visiting for a weekend round of golfing.”

The owners commissioned Rogers-Bolton, and architect and general contractor KenWeitz simultaneously after viewing a few of their projects in The Bear’s Club. To gaina better sense of the couple’s lifestyle and the nuances of their design aesthetic, thedesigner flew to the couple’s Connecticut home. Throughout the process, the ownersremained hands-off, entrusting Rogers-Bolton and her team to create an environment thatexpressed their love of simple, refined elegance, but with a South Florida sensibility.

A strong and graceful design with classic symmetry defines the interior style and theexterior architecture of the home. Built from the ground up, the French Chateau-inspiredestate features an array of indulgences such as individual his-and-her studies, amedia room, an exercise pavilion and an outdoor cabana. “We worked hand-in-hand

Atop a pedestal, artist Anne Mimi Sammis’ bronze sculpture, Embrace of Life, strikes an inviting pose.

“WE NEVER REPEAT THE SAME DESIGN ELEMENT IN ANOTHER HOME,”INTERIOR DESIGNER LORRAINE ROGERS-BOLTON SAYS. “IT’S AS IF OUR CLIENTS ARE PURCHASING AN ORIGINAL PAINTING.”

with the builder consulting onevery aspect of the front and rearelevations, as well as the interior,”Rogers-Bolton says. “A dedicatedteam approach led to a great result.”

Interiors outfitted in walnut andebonized woods in hues of cream, gray and indigo blue give way tospectacular pool and golf courseviews. Throughout, a unique blendof custom designs, newer pieces anditems from the owners’ personalcollection lend a one-of-a-kind feel.

A step inside the dramatic two-story entry reveals a round pedestaltable that centers the space oppositea French door with intricate ironscrollwork. Beyond that, thesophisticated living room reflectsthe couple’s desire for an area witha simple conversation grouping. Here, a custom silk area ruggrounds lightly scaled furnishings, including Kravet’s tufted tête-à-tête.Overhead, the elegant hand-blownMurano-glass chandelier, casts aglow upon a trio of arched windowsthat lend architectural interest.Artwork by Chinese artist Wei Jia,displayed on Patty Madden’s silverygray wall covering, catches the eyewith a pop of color.

The use of a neutral palette throughout the home lends graceful sophistication, and blends well with warm walnut wood to convey an

elegant and relaxed impression.

In the casual dining room, anebonized-wood Swaim table andFicks Reed’s rattan dining chairs, cushioned in Duralee’s bold,flame-stitched motif, create anintimate vignette that overlooksthe pool and sculpture gardens.

From the living space, the dark-stained walnut flooring flows through to thefamily room, where ivory, cream and deep blue hues wrap furnishings tocounter rich wood cabinetry and paneling. Designed with relaxation andentertaining in mind, the room features a woven-linen sofa and companion clubchairs dressed in a striped brushed cotton. Nearby, a custom cocktail table’sbleached ash-wood base traverses to create two cozy nooks that conceal a pair ofbamboo-framed Hickory Chair stools. Walnut wood dresses a custom-designedentertainment center that spans one wall, while stately mesh-wood valancestop French doors on another.

The original design of the dining room proved too formal for the owners whodesired a space with relaxed furnishings and an outdoor view. “We turned the formaldining room into a fabulous study for the wife and created a sunlit dining room justoff the kitchen,” Rogers-Bolton says. Inspired by the West Indies, dining chairscushioned in a flame-stitched fabric center walls of windows that provide theperfect view of the pool.

A study in contrasts, the sparkling chef’s kitchen is equipped with an arrayof gourmet spices and oils, the wife’s extensive cookbook collection and the
