The Grapevine Police Department Citizen's PoliceAcademy is held twice a year, once during the spring and once during

the fall. The Academy is open to any resident, employees, and their families, of theCity of Grapevine, at no charge. During the fourteen week academy, students will have the

unique opportunity to see and interact with Police Department personnel as never before. The studentwill observe all of the functions of the Police Department and see its innermost workings.

By the end of the Academy, the student should understand basic police procedures. Topics covered include Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, Firearms training, K9 operations, use of

force issues, plus procedures of the jail, Court System and Telecommunications. The student will also learn about the Grapevine Police Department's Community Relations Programs.

A graduation ceremony is held on the fourteenth week. Each class is about three hours long and starts at 6:30 PM on Thursdays, except for the two days of Firearms training, which are held on a Saturday morning.

Santa CopsSince the inception of Santa Cops in 1995, the program has assisted manyfamilies and children at Christmas. The program has grown every year sincethen. The Santa Cops program of Grapevine provides toys to economicallydisadvantaged children in the community. The program is a huge successbecause of caring citizens, businesses, churches, and civic organizations.

TransportationThe Senior Activities Center provides transportation for Grapevine residents to and from the Center Monday through Friday. Also provided and scheduled by the Center are opportunities for transportation to the bank, post office, grocery shopping, and various Center activities and special events. Daily transportationreservations are required by 12 PM the preceding day.

LunchSenior Citizen Services of Greater Tarrant County, Inc. provides hot lunches that supply one-third of the RDA at 12 PM, Monday through Friday. For those under 60, the cost of the meal is $6. For those 60+ and their spouse, the meal is available for a suggested contribution of $2. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

Health and Nutrition EducationEducational programs provided by health care professionals. Flushots offered twice in the fall. Blood pressure checks provided byWoodridge at Grapevine Health and Rehabilitation.

SeniorMoversThis volunteer-based program assists with the medical and dental transportation needs of the Grapevine Senior population. Ridersmust be pre-registered, give 48 hours notice of need and requirevery minimal assistance. For information about this program,please call 817.410.8130.

The Community Activities Center offers manyleisure opportunities for the citizens ofGrapevine through its amenities, programs andactivities, promoting fitness, wellness and a higherquality of life. The Center offers two full-sized gymnasiums, two racquetball courts, a weight/cardiovascular room, locker rooms with showers,jogging track, class/meeting rooms and a gameroom. All family members five years of age andolder must purchase yearly membership ID cardsto use the Center. Before purchasing or renewinga resident or Grapevine business owner membership ID card, residents must provideproof of residency and business owners must provide a DBA certificate and documentationshowing the business’s physical address.

Weight/Cardiovascular RoomThe Grapevine Community Activities Center offersHoist weight equipment, functional trainer, freeweight benches, a Smith machine, dumb bells, top-of-the-line Precor stationary bicycles, stairclimbers, elliptical trainers, AMT and treadmills areavailable for use by individuals 16 years of ageand older. Individuals 13-15 years of age mayuse the weight room if accompanied by anadult. Children age 12 and under are notallowed access to the fitness room. No sportsbras, bare midriffs or any other clothing thatexposes the torso will be allowed in the fitnessroom. Our Cardio Theater System is designed toenhance your exercise experience. Personal training is available. No outside personal trainersreceiving compensation for services are permitted.

It is not necessary to be a member of theCommunity Activities Center to registerfor Parks & Recreation programs.

REGISTRATION FEESFees may be paid by cash, check, Mastercard,Visa, or money order at the time of registration.Please make checks payable to the City ofGrapevine. Returned checks will be subject toa $20 charge. All program fees are regulatedaccording to the cost of the instructor, suppliesand minimum class enrollment. Some programsmay require additional fees or supplies. Noprograms are held on holidays recognized byGrapevine Parks and Recreation. All fees collected, support and finance these programs.

WAITING LISTIf the class/program you desire has alreadyfilled, staff will return your fee and keep yourregistration form. You will be notified if a spacebecomes available or a new class is formed.Program openings will be filled on a first-come,first-served basis from the waiting list.

Register Early!

REFUNDSYour satisfaction is important to us! If you are not completely satisfied with your class,please notify us. The following are generalguidelines for refunds:

1) A refund may be prorated dependentupon the date of the request. Refundsmust be requested prior to the midpointof that session.

2) All requests for refunds will be reviewedby staff.

3) A Refund Request Form must be completed in person or with a staffmember via telephone. Forms may be obtained at the Community Activities Center.

4) Refunds will be refunded back to thecredit card charged and applied to thehousehold account for future use, orprocessed and a check returned. No cash refunds.

CANCELLATIONSAll programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If aprogram does not meet this minimum, no laterthan 48 hours prior to the program start date,the class may cancel/combine or make any revisions necessary. A full refund will beprocessed and mailed. Please allow 3-weeksfor refund.

SPRING/SUMMER PLAYBOOKThe Spring/Summer Playbook will be availableonline at playgrapevine.com during the monthof January.

PLAYER’S NOTICEParticipants must recognize that allclasses/activities of a physical nature involvesome risk, and by registering for a class/activityof this nature there is an assumption of risk bythe participant. The City of Grapevine Parks &Recreation Department is dedicated to providingsafe facilities and equipment for all participants,as well as qualified staff and instructors. Everyeffort is made to ensure the safety of the participants and to provide them with first-classleisure activities, facilities and parks. In theevent of a serious accident or illness, it is thepolicy of the City of Grapevine to:

1) Contact Grapevine Fire DepartmentEmergency Services to perform first aid, and when necessary, recommendtransportation to a hospital;

2) Reach the parent and/or legal guardianas soon as the situation allows.

H.E.R.O. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The H.E.R.O. For indoor facilities,the Bessie Mitchell Meeting Facility and MerlotCommunity Rooms are available for Grapevineresidents and businesses only.
