What is “Intelligent” Video Surveillance?

An Intelligent Video Surveillance system uses Intelligent Cameras and Video Analytics software to determine if a recorded activity should trigger an alert. For each camera, the system monitors “virtual

sensors” (i.e. virtual trip wire) via seven motion-based analytic rules. Combining these rules with size-based object tracking, the camera can trigger an alert when a certain-sized object (car, person etc.) crosses the virtual trip line reducing false positives by up to 97%. The virtual trip line could be aligned with the top of a fence, an entrance, a gate, a sidewalk or simply a line virtually drawn on the ground.

How has Video Surveillance changed?

Video surveillance has helped protect properties for many years, but it has always been very reactive (What happened last night?). If you wanted live video surveillance, you had to hire people or a company to watch your security camera feeds for suspicious activity.

With Intelligent Cameras and Video Analytics, the tedious and expensive process of “watching” is automated. These new intelligent systems will generate an alert when it “sees” something suspicious and even begin an automated series of events, such as turning on lights, to immediately deter intruders.

On the screen, you will see the camera identify the object approaching the trip line by outlining it in green. It will follow the object as it moves, passing control to additional cameras, if necessary.

Once the object crosses the virtual trip wire, the object’s outline turns red and an alert is sent. The alert can be sent electronically to an individual, security team, or an external monitoring service for further analysis and incident escalation.

The system comes with a mobile app and a desktop application so that you can check-in on your property remotely. It also can be armed and disarmed from a keypad with custom entry and exit delays just like a traditional security system.
