Paul S. Otellini born on October 12, 1950 and raised in San Francisco, California, United States, his family is of Italian origin.

Graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of San Francisco in 1972.

He received an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley in 1974.

Otellini's brother, Rev.Steven Otellini, is a Roman Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of San Francisco currently serving as pastor of The Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park, California, United States.
