Join us for our invitation-only conference and workshop programme where leading organisations will share their experiences in implementing Integrated Business Planning (Advanced S&OP), and the lessons they’ve learnt and the successes they’ve had.

Workshop Wednesday On day two of the conference, we are offering three unique workshops, which will help you get up to speed with the latest thought leadership on different aspects of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and take your IBP process to the next level.

Driving Innovation Participating in this exclusive Integrated Business Planning Conference will enhance

your IBP knowledge, allowing you to allocate resources to the most productive activities and react swiftly to ever-changing market conditions. Integrated Business Planning can enable any organisation to drive innovation, improve decision-making and boost profitability but only if it is properly understood and implemented.

Education Education Education This conference programme is designed to provide you with an outstanding educational experience. Successful IBP implementation is very much dependent on people and behaviours, thus, education has a vital role to

play. Before people can apply best practice they need to understand what it is – the key lies in workshops, ongoing coaching and cascade education. Only in this way can IBP enable your organisation to make the fundamental shift from finances being the driving force for all management activity to the point where the finances are the consequence of slick processes that perform profitably. Our aim is to provide an opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge in order to respond with speed and agility to changing conditions and stay on track to achieve your business goals.

Graham Dugdale Executive Director - Commercial, Simplot Australia

“The Role of Product Management in IBP”

Graham is an experienced leader within the consumer goods industry with over 25 years’ experience in creating, transforming and growing businesses and brands. Graham has

experience in marketing, sales, finance and general management which he has applied within the UK, South Africa and Australia

Graham joined Simplot Australia in 2004 as the General Manager of a joint venture between Simplot and I&J Foods from South Africa. After deciding that he wanted to settle in Australia permanently, Graham accepted the position of Executive General Manager – Retail in September 2007. In September 2013 he assumed the role of Executive Director Commercial where he is accountable for the profit and loss and commercial, sales and marketing strategy for Simplot Australia.

Graham’s presentation will detail how Simplot has continued to develop the Product Management Review, as well as revealing insights into how Simplot is one of the few companies in the world that has maintained Oliver Wight Class A status for more than 10 years.

As Graham explains, “at Simplot we have recently restructured ourselves and it is now quite convenient and practical for us to include discussions on planned portfolio changes within our monthly IBP process. These discussions include: planned new products, product changes and refreshment, product value engineering, and tail management. Agreement is reached on prioritisation, resource allocation and managing any supply and demand impacts. This has proved invaluable in efficiently managing our portfolio of categories and brands.”

Ian Roughsedge Managing Director Changefirst Australia and New Zealand

“Implementation versus Installation: The key to realising the benefits from your investment in IBP”

For the last 16 years, Ian has helped organisations translate their business strategies into sustainable results within the financial services, utilities, telecommunications, insurance, manufacturing, FMCG, ITC, pharmaceutical, medical, services, chemical, transportation and media industries. As a skilled consultant and facilitator, Ian applies his diverse experience to enable organisations to convert corporate strategies into sustainable results.

In a study completed by Changefirst, it was found that the major cause of failure when implementing major change is an ‘organisational mindset’ which is preoccupied with getting the “solution” installed and ignores the bigger need to actually change the way people work. This focus, has resulted in quite alarming failure rates.

In his presentation, Ian will share the six critical success factors required for realising the expected benefits from your investment in Integrated Business Planning.

This working group was sponsored by the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, where Ron had previously been employed as the Strategy Manager in developing and implementing Walmart’s forecasting and replenishment processes as well as CPFR®.

Rons presentation will discuss what is IBP for retailers as well as what is CPFR® that is used for collaboration between retailers and suppliers

Ron will also discuss the importance and benefits of IBP in retail and how it has changed the scope of supplier collaboration and the value it has for the suppliers

Amanda Banfield Managing Director Mondelez Australia and New Zealand

“Creating an inspiring culture to accelerate IBP implementation”

Implementing Integrated Business Planning is not simply a case of building a project team, working on a process design and rolling out an approach. There is great benefit in building a

positive culture, attaining individual buy-in and creating a dynamic team spirit to accelerate the implementation of IBP. Mondelez International, the company behind brands such as Cadbury, The Natural Confectionery Company and Oreo, has implemented an IBP process in Australia based on a global model, against the backdrop of a previous less-than-successful attempt. In her presentation, Amanda will highlight the approach that was taken and the challenges that needed to be overcome to ensure success.

Collaboration & IBP

Ron Ireland Principal Oliver Wight Americas

Workshop Option 1 (Full day) Time: 9:00am – 4:30pm | Cost: AU$1390 (+GST) per delegate

Over the past decade, Integrated Business Planning has evolved to reach the supply chain collaboration stage – whereby, the Integrated Business Planning process is integrated up and down the value chain. No longer is a single node of the supply chain optimised, but several. Imagine a collective mindset of delivering superb customer service, at a fraction of the competitors’ costs, complete with seamless flow of demand information, and an intense collaboration in managing the highly uncertain area of bringing new products to market. In this interactive workshop Ron Ireland will share his expertise in this area including:

• Thechallengesandopportunitiesintheextendedsupplychain - Internal and external challenges - The supply chain “bull whip” effect

• Theconsumer-centricsupplychain–whyisitimportant?• IBP–theinternalcollaborativemodel• CPFR®–theexternalcollaborativemodel

Using Assumptions in IBP

Mike Reed Partner, Oliver Wight Asia Pacific

Workshop Option 2 (Half day) Time: 9:00am – 12:30pm | Cost: AU$695 (+GST) per delegate

All plans and projections of the future need to be based on a set of assumptions. For IBP to be successful, the assumptions used have to be documented, critiqued, understood, and agreed. The plans should not be signed off unless these conditions are met. Sadly, many IBP review meetings are held without any discussion of the assumptions that make the plan real. Consequently, one is left asking - on what basis are these plans being accepted and signed off?

This workshop will examine the role of assumptions in IBP and which assumptions need to be reviewed and updated each month - for each of the IBP Reviews (Product, Demand and Supply).

Participants will develop a set of assumptions that they can take back and apply within their companies thereby improving the quality of the relevant IBP Review meetings. They will also explore how these assumptions will need to be reviewed each month and who would be responsible for doing this.

Performance Measurement for IBP

Stuart Harman Partner, Oliver Wight Asia Pacific

Workshop Option 3 (Half day) Time: 1:00pm – 4:30pm | Cost: AU$695 (+GST) per delegate

Performance measurement is an integral part of the Integrated Business Planning process, yet many organisations either don’t measure the right things or don’t use the measures they have to drive improvement. This workshop will focus on:

• TheappropriatemeasuresthatshouldbeusedintherespectiveIBPreviews(Product,Demand,Supply, Reconciliation and Management Review)

• Theissueofconflictingmeasuresandhowtoresolvethis

• HowtousemeasurestodriveimprovementincludingthepracticalapplicationofCItoolsfortheidentification and elimination of root causes including: - 5 Whys -Causeandeffect - Measurement hierarchy - Visual management and measures presentation
