Integrated Adult• People moving toward
autonomy expand their personal capacities for awareness, spontaneity and intimacy. As this occurs, they develop integrated adult ego states.
• Filtering more and more Parent and Child material through their Adult and learning new behavior patterns are parts of the integrating process.

This mechanism of integration remains to be elucidated, but it can be observed that certain people when functioning qua Adult have a charm and openness of nature which is reminiscent of that exhibited by children. Along with these go certain responsibility feelings toward the rest of humanity which may be subsumed under the classical term – Pathos. ”

Integrated Adult
• Transactionally, anyone functioning as an Adult should ideally exhibit three kinds of tendencies : – Personal attractiveness
and responsiveness– Objective data processing
and – Ethical responsibility.
Integrated Adult• The integrated person is
charming and courageous in his Adult state, whatever qualities he has or does not have in his Child and Parent ego states.
• The unintegrated person may revert to being charming and may feel that he should be courageous.
Integrated Adult
• The person in the process of integration takes responsibility for everything he or she feels, thinks and believes and also either has or develops an ethical system of life – Ethos.
• In addition, the person develops social graciousness and experiences the emotions of passion, tenderness and suffering – Pathos.

Integration Process
• During the integration process, the ego states goes through a series of changes.
• Initially, the ego states remain unaware and contaminated.
• This is the preliminary stage on integration process.

• In the second stage of the integration process, the individual is aware about the contamination.
• He has Adult awareness of the parent, child and double contamination existing in his personality.

• This is the third stage of the Adult integration process.
• This stage is characterized by Re – alignment and De – Contamination of ego states of the individual.

• This is the penultimate stage of the Adult integration process.
• The main function happening in this stage is the Adult filtering of behavior of the individual.

• In the last stage of the integration process, the culmination of all the stages happen.
• Integration process will be complete when the contamination is removed and parent and child is integrated into the Adult ego state.

Integrated Adult• A person whose Adult is
integrated may revert a times to archaic behavior from the Parent or Child.
• Perls claims that there is no such thing as total integration.
• However, in the ongoing process of integration, a person becomes more and more responsible for her or his own life
Integrated Adult• The integrated Adult appears
to be similar to what Erich Fromm calls the fully develop person and to what Abraham Maslow calls the self actualized person.
• In addition to using their own talents and intellects, Maslow claims, self actualizing people take responsibility for others as well as for themselves and have a childlike capability for awareness and pleasure.
“These individuals customarily have some mission in life, some task to fulfill, some problem outside themselves which enlist much of their energies. In general, these tasks are non personal or unselfish, concerned rather with the good of the mankind or of a nation. ”

Integrated Adult• It appears that the person who is
most fully in touch with his or her own human potential is in the process of integrating the Adult.
• This person has the honest concern and a commitment towards others that are characteristics of a good parent, the intelligence to solve problems that is characteristic of an Adult and the ability to create, express awe and show affection that are characteristic of a happy and healthy child.
Integrated Adult• Unless integrated, the
Adult functions only as a data processing machine.
• An unfeeling machine as the executive of the personality would create an inadequate personality.
• It is integrated adult that contain Adult feelings and Ethics as well as technical skills and ability.
Adult ethics• The process of integrating
serves as a catalyst motivating the person to re - evaluate a present value system and to design a personal ethical code.
• To establish an Adult code of ethics, both parent and child opinions and feelings need to be scrutinized objectively with the Adult.
