Heavy-current cable, kit to be used when an accessory for 24 Volt power supply with more than 10 ampere (max 25 Amp/500 Watt) current consumption. The cigarette lighter is often used for connecting electrical accessories of different kinds. Some accessories, for instance a coffe maker have too high current consumption and can therefor damage the cigarrette lighter. To avoid this, a new heavy-current cable is introduced. 7Volvo immobilizer

A safe combination Truck theft is becoming increasingly commonplace – no matter where you park your truck, theft from and of your truck is a spiralling risk. To protect your load and your truck, Volvo has developed the Volvo Immobilizer – a security system whereby only the correct key will start the engine.

The Volvo Immobilizer operates as a starter inhibitor since the starter key communicates with the en-gine’s starting circuit via security-coded electronic signals and randomly selected codes. Without the right key, the engine simply will not fire up. So as long as you keep your key safely, your truck is in perfect safety.

The Volvo Immobilizer is available as an option on all trucks equipped with Volvo’s new electronic system.

Full protection with the Volvo Truck Alarm Volvo’s effective truck alarm monitors the doors, front hatch and battery box as well as the cab tilting system, and it can be extended to protect the load too. It is activated by a radio-operated remote control and features integrated protection against ”grabbing” or scanning of the transmission code.

If you combine Volvo Truck Alarm, you are in an excellent position to negotiate insurance premiums with your insurance company – and at the same time you can rest assured that your truck and its load always enjoy the maximum possible protection.

This is how the Volvo Immobilizer functions There is a transponder embedded in the truck key, which communicates with an inductive antenna in the starter lock. When the key is inserted into the starter lock, the immobilizer control unit or ICU recognises the key’s signal or electronic ”fingerprint” and permits communication with the engine’s elec-tronic management system (EMS). When the key is turned in the starter lock, a coded signal is sent from the engine’s electronic management system to the immobilizer control unit. If this signal is recog-nised and approved, a coded, randomly selected signal is sent on to the EMS to permit the engine to start. The entire process takes just a fraction of a second – the only way you’ll be aware of its operation is when a lamp comes on in the instrument panel to indicate that the truck is ready to start.

Installation at dealer Order immobilizer kit from Ghent.

Obtain chassis number from customer, and order key kit (three keys) from Gent. Mechanically coded in accordance with chassis number. Agree time for installation.

Program the software in the immobilizer, the engine control unit and the instrument with VCADS Pro programming tool. See service information, group 03.

Initiate key programming with VCADS Pro. All three keys must be programmed. Check function of all keys, (start engine). See service information, group 03.

8 Key handling on the after-market When a replacement key is needed, order a key from Ghent. Specify chassis number, to obtain cor-rectly mechanically coded key.

Request the customer to bring all other keys, preferably at the time when the replacement key is sup-plied. Program all keys with VCADS Pro. (This makes the lost key unusable.) Check the function of all keys (start the engine).

Dynafleet helps haulage companies to take full control over their transport operations and vehicle fleet.Dynafleet is Volvo’s online business tool for improved profitability. Using any computer connected to the Internet, you can check the current location of your trucks, monitor how much fuel they are con-suming and check their driven routes, driver times and much more.

Dynafleet is offered as four main services:

• Fuel & Environment

• Driver Times

• Positioning

• Messaging

The customer can choose one or many services in any combination.

The content of each service is described below.

After deciding which Dynafleet service that suits the needs, you order Dynafleet by first selecting the Dynafleet hardware and then continue by selecting the suitable services.

There are 3 choices for the Dynafleet hardware. These are:

Creating an artificial chassi ID is done in Volvo TechTool/VCADS, by following these steps:

1. In Volvo Techtool/VCADS. Identify the vehicle manually as a COMP04 model. 2. Start the operation called "1700-08-03-35 – Central systems, updating, create

Dynafleet chassis ID" located under "1-Service and maintenance".3. The operation will ask you for information. Fill in the non-Volvo vehicle’s real

VIN number and select which Tachograph type it has (No Tacho, Analogue tacho or Digital tacho). Also select in which country the vehicle is operating/registered.

4. After the operation has been successfully performed the new artificial chassis ID will be created in VDA and presented to the Volvo TechTool user. This chassis number can now be used to continue the installation and run the Dynafleet acces-sory kits on and for programming of the ECU/MID’s.

5. After the installation is complete the vehicle can be entered in the Dynafleet Online portal by supplying the vehicle’s real VIN number during registration.

Dynafleet is offered as four main services:

The subscriptions to the Dynafleet services include unlimited communication between vehicle and of-fice within the whole of Europe. As a customer you will also receive free updates regularly of the func-tions included.

For the services Fuel & Environment, Driver Times and Positioning the minimum hardware require-ment is Dynafleet without Driver tool. The Messaging service requires Dynafleet with Driver tool. To subscribe to the services you need to:

• When a login to Dynafleet Online has been obtained the vehicle can be activated on Dynafleet On-line, http://www.dynafleetonline.com, and the subscription will start.

Customer operational needs change over time. The Dynafleet services can be added or removed to meet new requirements.

Order information: Dynafleet Services The below Accessory kits can be run without having the vehicle in the workshop. For services that the customer would like to subscribe to order the Accessory kits in the ON column. For the services that should not be activated order Accessory kits from the OFF column. The All services Accessory kit can be ordered when the customer would like to subscribe to all four services.

The Accessory kits in the ON column can also be used to add services at a later stage and the Accessory kits in the OFF column can be used to turn off activated services.

Running the Accessory kits is the first step in the activation / deactivation process. To finalise a service activation or deactivation log on to Dynafleet Online and follow instructions below.

Service activation and deactivation in Dynafleet Online

To complete a service activation or deactivation you need to log on to Dynafleet Online as an Admin-istrator and update both the Dynafleet Online portal and the vehicle with the new service information. This must be done after the VDA system has been updated by the Accessory kit. New Dynafleet Online vehicle: Click on the Administrator tab, and then on the button to create a Vehicle. Go through all steps to activate a new vehicle.

Existing Dynafleet Online vehicle: Click on the Administrator tab, and then on the button to modify a Vehicle. Select the vehicle you want to update and click the “Refresh data from VDA” button. The Dynafleet Online portal will now be updated with information on which services the vehicle should have. To update the vehicle with the same information click the “Manage services” button, select the vehicle and click on the Send button. Service update is completed.

22 Migration from earlier services

It is possible to migrate from the services Perform, Perform & Locate and Operate to the new services. Migration can be performed without having the vehicle in the workshop.

Migration options

Subscriptions that are paid in advance Vehicles with prepaid subscriptions should not be migrated until the prepaid period has expired.

Removing existing service and activating new services By ordering and running the Accessory kits for the new services the existing services (Perform, Perform & Locate or Operate) will automatically be removed. For services that the customer would like to sub-scribe to order the Accessory kits in the ON column. For the services that should not be activated order Accessory kits from the OFF column. The All services Accessory kit can be ordered when the customer would like to subscribe to all four services.

To finalise the migration log on to Dynafleet Online and follow instructions below.

Complete the migration in Dynafleet Online

To complete the migration you need to log on to Dynafleet Online as an Administrator and update both the Dynafleet Online portal and the vehicle with the new service information. This must be done after the VDA system has been updated by the Accessory kits. Click on the Administrator tab and then on the button to modify a Vehicle. Select the vehicle you want to update and click the “Refresh data from VDA” button. The Dynafleet Online portal will now discontinue the old subscription and start the new one(s). To update the vehicle with the new service content click the “Manage services” button, select the ve-hicle and click on the Send button. Service and subscription update is completed.

Driver Data Upload and Tachograph Download services

The functionality in the Driver Data Upload and Tachograph Download services is included in the Driver Times service. Vehicles that have these services should after the migration have them disabled in Dynafleet Online.

23Trip Manager

Trip Manager is a computer program that processes the stored information from the engine’s ECU in Volvo FL, FE, FM and FH vehicles. Information from the engine’s ECU is downloaded to a PC/laptop by connecting an USB-cable to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket. The information varies depending on which version of the software that is installed in the engine’s ECU.

With Trip Manager you can produce different reports based on the information that you have down-loaded from the vehicle:

• Trip reports

• Trend reports

• Service reports

Trip Manager is a member of the Dynafleet product family but with only very basic features and func-tions. It does not give you access to the Dynafleet Online services. Trip Manager does not require any Dynafleet hardware to be installed in the vehicle.
