HEAR IT LIVEYour Arkansas Symphony presents the 2017-18 season with the spotlight on our orchestra.Join us to experience the possibilities of the new Robinson Center with all our symphonic forces. We’ll offer masterworks like Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique Symphony, Brahms’ First Symphony, Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, Holst’s expansive The Planets, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.
We will use the broad color palettes of Ravel, Strauss and de Falla to display the acoustic of the new hall. We explore the new with Composer-of-the-Year, Adam Schoenberg, the innovative in collaboration with Arkansas’s own impressionist painter, Barry Thomas — involving a live painting — and a captivating combination of visual arts and music. We pair excerpts of Carmen and de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain — with fiery pianist Tatiana Roitman Mann — with Tchaikovsky, violinist Jennifer Frautschi returns with the hauntingly beautiful and powerful Sibelius Concerto, and young pianist Ji joins the ASO for a snappy Ravel that begins with a whip-crack.
Pops audiences can look forward to the always-sold-out Home for the Holidays, as well as Nashville’s hottest Grammy-winning songwriters as Music City Hit-Makers brings their unique
and entertaining show, all with incredible stories from the people who made the music. We celebrate the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald in what
would have been her 100th year, and we top it all off with an amazing chance to hear and see Raiders of the Lost Ark like never before!
We have constructed this season for all to love, the newcomer and the aficionado alike. It is a season
to connect us all, so please share this opportunity friends
and family, and fall in love again with the power of great music.
I look forward to seeing you at our performances!
