What I Expect From You On a weekly basis you can expect to do the following:

To answer, in at least two hundred words, two questions about reading assignments.

To respond to at least two question responses posted by peers.

To actively engage in all discussions and read all postings made by your peers.

To complete all assignments given during a week. To check into this class often—if you do not it will be

to your own detriment. To give me and your peers your best effort

What You Can Expect From Me That I will be actively participating in all discussions

to challenge you and extend your thoughts. That I will give responses to your posts, assignments

and questions as soon as humanly possible. That I will ask you to engage in tasks that are

designed to turn theory into practice with as much help as I can give without doing the work for you.

That I will limit the amount of work you have to a reasonable amount whenever possible.

That I will keep you apprised of all upcoming responsibilities at the beginning of each week.

What You Can Expect from Me That I will provide examples of what is expected of

you for every assignment. That I will ask you to learn how to do things you've

never done before and to become proficient using electronic resources that you've never used before.

That I will make every effort to turn this class into an online community that supports and challenges its members.

That I will be fair but tough when evaluating your work and talk to you honestly about evaluation

That I will expect your best every time.

Nettiquette We are all still in high school here so treating each

other with respect is not optional it is required. Please remember that this is a formal educational setting and that requires specific behavior on your part.

I highly recommend that you visit the following website and visit the instructional boot camp Prezis on nettiquette, dangers of the Internet, technological tools and how to post and collaborate online at:

An Average Week in Online Learning It is a common misconception that online learning

is somehow easier than traditional classes. The truth is that you can expect to spend:

At least two hours on assigned readings per week At least four hours reading discussion posts At least two hours responding to questions and

making replies to posts by your peers At least two hours working on class assignments At least two hours navigating classroom areas

(depending on you Internet connection speed) This also means it's more work for teachers too

Your Class Week Here On Monday read the course homepage to find out

what is due that week. You must answer reading questions by midnight

on Thursday. You must respond to two peers by midnight on

Sunday. The week's assignments are also due on Sunday by

midnight. Due dates are not set in stone as long as you

communicate with me when I can expect your work to be done and why it was late.

How to Be Successful Check into the course often so you do not become

inundated with discussion posts to read. I keep track of what you read and it will figure into your discussion grade.

You will be asked to regulate your learning and progress because I cannot physically hold your hand in this environment. It takes hard work and commitment.

Yo will not do well in this course if your idea of learning revolves around the completion of tasks. Your grade will reflect how you grow as a student, a thinker, and my perception of your effort.
