• Open your lab notebook to the very first page.

• On the top line write, Table of Contents

• Count “front and back of paper” leaving 6 pages blank.

• On the seventh page start numbering the pages on the front and back from number 1 and stop when you have numbered to page 25.

• Return to the table of contents.• On the second line under the

table of contents: • Write number 1• Then write: Build a Structure

one: Write the name of the lab. “Build a Structure Lab.”

In your group• You will need to decide on your

hypothesis. (A question about the lab.)

• Write your predictions: How many sheets of paper do you think it will take to build a structure that will hold a 200 gram weight. (You cannot sit your weight on folded newspapers. You must build a structure that will hold the weight.

Finally….• You will design your structure.• The design must be on paper. • First: Design your structure on a piece of white paper.• Next: Build your structure and see if it holds the

weight.• If it does not, write under your design what happened

and why it did not hold the weight.• Then, redesign your structure and try again!!! • If your structure did not support the weight, repeat

the procedure four times or until your structure supports the weight.

• If you have not succeeded after four attempts, write what you think went wrong. Be sure to include this information in your conclusion.

• If you are successful, write why you were successful. Be sure to include this information in your conclusion.
