Instructions for Mac OS X 10.6.8 and later

Download Microsoft Windows 7

This process can take 30-90 minutes depending on your download speed.

Use wired connection if possible. It allows for faster downloads.

1. Create a new Folder on your desktop and name it Windows 7

2. Download Windows 7 “Student image” from http://bit.ly/terrycobstudentimage a. If you have any issues downloading from this site call 706-542-6799 between

the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. b. You can continue with the remainder of this section’s Instructions while waiting

for the download.

3. Double click the Student Image.zip file a. This should take 3-7 minutes to unzip b. It will create a second Student Image file

4. Obtain the Windows Product Key from Dreamspark. a. Use the Dreamspark registration account. b. From the Main Page, Select Microsoft Windows 7.

c. Chose the last selection. It is titled “Terry Hosted Download i. Any of the Windows 7 32 bit can give you a valid key, but this one is

preferred.

d. Click “Add to Cart”

e. Click “Check Out”

f. Click “I accept”

g. Click “Continue”

h. Click “Proceed with order”

i. After it loads, it should bring you to a window with a product key in the center. i. Do not download any files from the site at this time. ii. Copy the Product key to a text file

iii. Save the text file to the folder called Windows 7

j. You can re-obtain product keys by checking “Your Account” at the top of your screen.

Download and install VMWare 4 1. Go to the VMAP website 2. Log in using the Username and password you created earlier 3. Select VMWare Fusion 4 4. Select “Add to Cart”

5. Select “Check out”

6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “I Accept”

7. Select “Proceed with Order”

8. Wait a moment for the Product Key to load

a. Copy the product key to a Text file or note and save it to the Desktop

9. Select “Start Download”

10. Press the “Download”

11. Open the VMware-Fusion-4. downloaded file a. You will see an install screen b. Slide the VMware icon into the Applications Icon

12. Select Migrate existing PC

13. Browse to the Windows 7 folder you created on the desktop 14. Navigate to the Student Image file a. When you click on the student image file it opens the archive b. Navigate to the Student image.vdmk and click on it. c. Press the white triangular play button. 15. Click I copied it

16. Click Yes

17. Click OK

18. Windows will begin to load. a. This is require reboot within the VMware b. This will take 5-10 minutes 19. Once windows opens, register the computer

a. Go to the start menu b. Alternate click on “Computer” c. Click Properties d. Scroll to the bottom e. Click “change product key”

f. Input product key from the text file you saved earlier., Press Next.

g. Congratulations! You now have a working copy of Windows on your Mac.

Download and install Virtual Clone Drive

1. Open an internet browser. (Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, …)

2. Go to : http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

3. Click on the DOWNLOAD button

4. Then Click on the down arrow next to Virtual CloneDrive

5. Run SetupVirtualCloneDrive.exe

6. Click “I Agree” button.

7. Click “Next”.

8. Click “Install”. a. You may receive a security warning. Click “Install”

9. Click “Close”.

Download and install other needed windows applications

1. Open an Internet browser in a Windows 7 operating system.

2. Go to the DreamSpark site. a. DreamSpark Site

3. Sign in

4. Click on the software you need

a. Visio b. Access c. Project

5. Follow the on screen instructions for each individual purchase.

a. Select your product

b. Choose “Add to Cart”

c. Choose “Check Out”

d. Choose “I accept”

e. Choose “Continue”

f. Choose “Proceed with Order”

g. Choose “Download”

h. Follow on screen instructions for the download i. Save download to desktop

i. Right click on Desktop Icon of the download i. Right click on icon for software after it has downloaded

ii. Select “Mount” iii. Choose “Install”

j. Repeat for any additional software you need.
