RF & Modulation

M. Häusler will replace W. Schwarz.

- H. Hofmann represents DLR in the Spacecraft M&C WG starting with Montreal meeting

- Montreal Meeting was reported as very informative and constructive for a „Beginner“

- DLR supports the shifting of the delivery of the WB 1.0 to the next meeting forimproving the content of this book.

Spacecraft Monitor and Control

Discussion in DLR to support the Mission Planning activities within this WG. Today the priority is very low (6 and 7 out of 10).

Navigation

R. Kiehling participated in the current WG meeting. DLR appreciates the progress of the WG: Significant progress was done on:

- ODM (Orbit Data Message),

- TDM (Tracking Data Message), and

- ADM (Attitude Data Message) recommendations.

ODM prepared to go blue. XML will be added end of the year.

Prototype software implemented at DLR/GSOC for OPM generation. Test with ESOC completed within May, 2004.

DLR/GSOC will contribute to improve the present versions, especially of the TDM. After completion of the ODM, TDM will be the next. This corresponds with DLR interests.

DLR/GSOC will organize an intermediate meeting to work on the TDM during the Flight Dynamics Conference in Munich (mid October).

Security (2)

The current WG meeting was a step in the right direction. This includes the creation of CCSDS security standards as well as delivering support on security for other WGs. At the end this should help to overcome the high borders on security, which all the time occurs on setting up cross support between the agencies.

DLR will support this work on security issues within the given WG.

Unfortunately the contribution of resources by agencies outside Europe during the meeting was very limited. Hopefully this could be improved in the future.

Transfer Data Services (2)

DLR also supports the decisions in the CSS area:

But: be aware of overlaps between the Service taken Management WG with Spacecraft M&C WG.

- General Cross Support Service as toolbox

- First items of the Toolbox are RAD and Tracking

- No new WG, update the Transfer Data Service WG

- Stop the development of a combined Return Book- API documentation

- Standardize Proxy definition- Publish the ESA SLE API books as Best Practices

- Pink Sheets to the reference model submitted to the secretary- Publishing of Service Management Red Books on the next meeting

General issues

- The level of the documentation and the actualization of the content is very muchdepending on the WGs. DLR proposes to generate procedures how to use theDocuShare by the WGs.

- Hopefully the support of the secretary will come up again after the change of thesupporting contractor. It would be helpful fort he future to be informed aboutorganizational problems as well.

- Till today DLR didn’t see a big change of the CCSDS work after the change of thestructure. The old problems on getting enough resources for the defined work are still ongoing.

- As DLR is involved in work items which soon be finished there is an interest to know, how these items are handled after closing down a WG.
