What does a production company do?

A production company helps create the film, assisting with budgeting, scheduling, scripting, casting and more. They are responsible for finding a director and the majority of actors featuring in the film. In addition, they are also responsible for anything that goes wrong, including actors/property being injured/ damaged. The production company usually oversees the film from drafting to completion. Major, global production companies such as universal, Warner Bros and 20th Century Fox command 90% of the box office takings.

What is your idea of a distributor and who that might be and why?

A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for the marketing of a film. The distributor may set the release date of a film and the method by which a film is to be exhibited or made available for viewing: for example, directly to the public either theatrically or for home viewing (DVD, video-on-demand, social media, download, television programs through broadcast syndication etc.). A distributor may do this directly, if the distributor owns the theatres or film distribution networks, or through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors.

Where the money might have come from for a film such as yours?

If we did wanted to create a film we could pitch it to a production company or, for example, the British Film Council who would get funding donations from elsewhere. For example big companies like Warner Bros.

How is your film similar 'institutionally' to others?

Our film is similar institutionally to low budget films that don't have the money to advertise the film in large way and rely on major production and distribution companies, such as Warner bros to make the film a hit.

That have produced many bug budget films and almost all of the films that they make have a high turnover and success rate.

Final Destination One of the main reasons for why I think that warner bros would be influential in the production of our film is because of the history that the film company had with producing thriller movies. Warner bros produces the film final destination 5. This film links to our opening sequence in the sense that it is very Avant-grade and follow the thriller conventions, such as low-key lighting, blood and death.

Final Destination Warner bros saw the potential in the final destination movie and after the release of number three picked up the movie and became the new producers of the 4th and 5th film in the final destination series. One warner bros picked up the final destination film the made a box office income of $186,167,139 and the series was also successful with a box office income $157,887,843. knowing that the final destination franchise has been so successful we feel that this success can be replicated with our film if warner bros were to take up our film idea

Company's that are not suited to our filmA production company such as Disney wouldnt be suited to our product because it supports films that are stereotypically in line with dominant ideologies, such as patriarchy. Because of its reputation as being a childrens film producer it wouldnt want to tarnish that image by producing films that are controversial or has explicit content that promotes promiscuity and violence. Therefore, our film which involves extreme, gory violence wouldnt be suited to their brand.
