the
SHOE
5
The diabetic footwear was designed using thebio-mimetic approach. It refers to a process tobe inspired by nature characteristics andmimicking into new innovative products. Theshoe soles are thick and wide. Thicker solescushion the patient feet from wear and tear, and that little bit of extra width helps theirfeet to avoid those hot spots.

the DESIGN
6
The insole is designed using most layeredsilicon. Rubber and plastic are not thesuitable for the diabetic patient as thismaterial do not absorb sweat and may causethe spreading of unwanted bacteria. Silicon ischosen as it has a soft texture and it willchange its form based on the foot shape.Furthermore, it will help the patient maintainthe stable positioning of their flat feet.
Silicon is used in the pharmaceutical andsurgical device. The biocompatibility polymersilicon is proposed because of chemicalstability and the compatibility for variousphysical forms. Besides that, silicon is abreathable material that is suitable with thepatient’s foot.

The patientneeds shoes that support your arches, ankles, and heels. The shoe is also adjustable as itused the Velcro system. In addition, the in-sock layer is designed with the sole thatmakes it comfortable to wear.
