Strengthening Family Business is the core of our mission

The Institute for Family-Owned Business helps family businesses succeed so they can

pass it on to the next generation. To accomplish this mission we have developed four

affinity groups. These groups meet several times a year for networking and discussion

on issues of interest to members. Space is limited and advance reservation is required

for many of these groups.

Our Affinity Groups include:

CEO Central – A facilitated roundtable discussion designed exclusively for family business CEOs. This group meets five times a year and the future dates are Tuesday, August 2, September 27 and November 29, 2016. Sponsored by Mainebiz.

Women’s Leadership Forum – A facilitated roundtable discussion with fellow women in leadership roles in family business. Our goals for this forum include support, encouragement, inspiration and information. This group meets several times a year and the future meetings are Wednesday, September 7 and November 16, 2016. Sponsored by Key Private Bank.

Women in Family Business – A series of programs designed by women focusing on education that is important and useful to them. This group meets several times a year with various programs including two golf clinics and new for 2016 a golfing “Wine & 9” series. The open golf clinic and the start of our “Wine & 9” series is on Tuesday, June 14 at the Nonesuch River Golf Course. Our next program is on Thursday, October 4, 2016 for a creative Paint Nite at Muse Paint Bar. Sponsored by Baker Newman Noyes.

Next Generation – All generations working in a family business benefit from the information provided in these meetings. Participants learn: communications, transitions, generational management styles, balancing family and family business, and more! We have two peer advisory groups that meet six times a year with two additional open sessions. The next open program will be on Thursday, October 20, 2016 called “A View from the Sidelines: Developing Skills to Enter the Game!” Sponsored by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Husson University.
