Installing ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 Education Edition

1. Review the ArcGIS Desktop System Requirements: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/system-requirements/10.1/index.html#//015100000002000000

Mac users,

make sure you have Windows

before you start. If you don’t, go here: http://edcommunity.esri.com/software-and-data/mac-os-support

2. Do not insert your DVD until Step 8.

3. Browse to esri.com/EducationEdition.

4. Click Sign-up for Your FREE Esri Global Account.

5. Create an Esri Global Account and login.

6. Enter the EVA######### code from your DVD jacket and click Activate ArcGIS.

7. That’s all you need from here. Logout.

8. Insert the DVD marked ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (not Tutorial Data for Desktop) into your system. If the window at right does not appear, open the DVD folder and double-click the ESRI.exe file.

9. Click Setup next to ArcGIS Desktop.

11. Accept the license agreement. Click Next.

12. Request a Complete install. Click Next.

13. Leave the Destination Folder as is. Click Next.

14. Leave the Python Destination Folder as it. Click Next.

15. Click Next.

16. Wait for about 30 minutes while ArcGIS installs. Click Finish.

17. At the ArcGIS Administrator Wizard, select Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use.

19. Click I have installed my software and need to authorize it. Click Next.

20. Click Authorize with Esri now using the Internet. Click Next.

21. Complete the Authorization Information the same way you registered for your Esri Global Account in Step 4. Click Next.

22. Complete the additional authorization information. Click Next.

23. Enter the EVA######### code from your DVD jacket and click Next.

24. Do not authorize any other extensions. All the extensions you need will automatically authorized. Click Next.

25. Do not evaluate any software extensions. Click Next.

26. Click Finish when the authorization is done.

27. Click OK.

28. Close the ArcGIS Desktop Installation Menu.

29. You’re done! Open ArcMap 10.1 and try it out.
