2.3 Electrical RequirementsThePhoenix200HTplugsintoacommongroundedoutletona15Ampcircuit.Itdraws7.2Ampsat80°F,60%RH.Ifusedinawetarea,agroundfaultinterrupter(GFI)isrequired.
Ifanextensioncordisrequired,itmusthaveaminimumof14gaugeconductorsif25feetlongorlessand12gaugeconductorsifgreaterthan25feetlong.
2.4 Condensate RemovalThePhoenix200HTisequippedwithaninternalcondensatepumptoremovethewaterthatiscondensedduringdehumidification.Thisallowsthecondensatetobepumped30’withtheattachedhose.Ifthecondensatemustbepumpedmorethan20feetabovetheunit,asecondpumpmustbeaddedtorelaythecondensate.Ifthepumpfailsandtheunitmustbeusedbeforeitcanbereplaced,thecondensatecanbedrainedbygravity(seeSec.4.9).
2.5 DuctingAdetachablerectangularexhaustcollarissuppliedthatwillallow10”roundlay-flatducttobeattachedtothePhoenix200HToutlet.
Toattachductingtoacollar,puttheplasticductendthroughthecollarcenterandrolltheductendoutwardsothatitoverlapstheoutsideofthecollar.TheductandcollarmaythenbequicklyattachedtothePhoenix200HTbysnappingthecollaroverthefourscrewsatthebloweroutlet.
2.6 Power ButtonPressthePOWERbuttontoturnthedehumidifieronoroff.Whenstartingthedehumidifierthedisplaywillshowtheaccumulatedhours.PressthePOWERbuttonagaintoturnthedehumidifieroff.Thedisplaywillalsopoweroff.
2.7 Pump Purge ButtonDuringnormaloperationthepumpautomaticallycycleseveryfourminutes.PressthePURGEbuttontoremovecondensatemanuallyfromthereservoir.Thereareseveralwaystomanuallyremovewaterfromthereservoir:
1. PressthePURGEbuttononceandthepumpwillrunfor20seconds
2. PressandholdthePURGEbuttonandthepumpwillrunforupto30seconds
3. PressthePURGEbuttonwhilethedehumidifierispoweredoffandthepumpwillrunfor30seconds.
Alwaysmanuallypurgethewaterreservoirbeforetransportorstorage.Turnoffthepowerandallowthepluggedindehumidifiertorest15minutesbeforethefinalpurge.
2.8 Hour MeterThedigitalhourmeterdisplaysthecumulativeandjobtimethedehumidifierhasbeenturnedontothetenthofanhour.Thetotalandjobhoursmeasuredarestoredwhentheunitisunplugged.Theprevioustotalwillbedisplayedthenexttimetheunitisturnedon.ThejobhourscanberesetbypressingandholdingtheHOURSbuttonfor5secondswhentheunitisoperating.
2.9 HOURS ButtonPresstheHOURSbuttonwhenthedehumidifiercannotbepluggedinandthehourmeterneedstoberead.Thedigitalhourmeterwillbrieflydisplaythelastsavedcumulativetimefor10seconds.
2.10 DEFROST LightTheDEFROSTlightturnsonwhentheunitisindefrostmodeindicatingwhenthecompressorisoff.
DRYING TIP: Air’s ability to absorb moisture from wet surroundings and the Phoenix 200HT’s ability to remove moisture from that air is greatly improved at higher temperatures. We recommend that the area to be dried be heated to over 70°F if possible. Less drying time will be required and efficiency will improve.
2.11 Low Pressure ProtectionIfthelowsidepressuredropsto35PSIG,thelowpres-surecontrolopensandshutsofthecompressor.Itisanautomaticallyresetcontrol.Itsprimaryfunctionistopreventdamagetothecompressorifaleakdevelopsintherefrigerationsystem.
2.12 Defrost CycleIfthelowsiderefrigeranttemperaturedropsbelowthedefrostsetpoint,duetoexcessivefrostformationontheevaporatorcoil,thethermistoractivatesthesolidstatecontrolandthedefrostlight.Thecontrolcyclesthecompressor“off”and“on”bymonitoringthermistortemperature.Theairmoverwillcontinuetorun,causingairtoflowthroughtheevaporatorcoil.Theairwillmelttheicethatformedontheevaprator.
Whentheairtemperatureand/orhumidityincreases,theevaporatortemperaturewillriseandthethermistorwillendthedefrostcyclerestartingthecompressor.
Iftheevaporatortemperaturedoesnotreachthedesiredtemperature,thecompressorwillstartafter15minutes.Thesystemwillstartatimeddefrostcycle.Thetimeddefrostcycleensurestheunitwillcontinuetoremovewaterfromtheairincoolambientconditions.

2.13 Temperature Specific OperationAbove90F–WhenthePhoenix200HTisusedinhightemperatureconditions(above90F),therefrigeranttemperatureinsidethecondenserrises.Byremovingthebypassmagnetfromthebypassopenings,additionalairflowisdirectedoverthecondenserandlessairflowisdirectedacrosstheevaporator.Theairflowdifferencesimprovethedehumidifierefficiency.
Below90F–WhenthePhoenix200HTisusedinlowtemperatureconditions(below90F),therefrigeranttemperatureinsidethecondenserlowers.Byaddingabypassmagnettothebypassopenings,additionalairflowisaddedthroughtheevaporator.Theairflowdifferenceimprovesthedehumidifierefficiency.
3 Maintenance3.1 Air FilterThePhoenix200HTisequippedwithapleatedfabricairfilterthatmustbecheckedregularly.ThestandardfilterisaMERV-11highefficiencyfilter.Operatingtheunitwithadirtyfilterwillreducethedehumidifier’scapacityandefficiencyandmaycausethecompressortocycleoffandonunnecessarilyonthedefrostcontrol.
IMPORTANT:DONOToperatetheunitwithoutthefilterorwithalesseffectivefilterastheheatexchangerandcoilsinsidetheunitcouldbecomecloggedandrequiredisassemblytoclean.
3.2 StorageTherearetwoissuestoconsiderwhenthePhoenix200HTisstoredbetweenuses.Bothpertaintothewatertrappedintheunit:damagecausedbyfreezingorbiologicalgrowth.Theeffectofthetrappedwatercanbegreatlyreducedifprecautionsaretakentoremoveasmuchaspossiblebeforestorage.
1. Usethepumppurgeswitch(seeSec.2.7)toreducethewaterlevelinthereservoir.
2. Stretchthehoseflattodrainitcompletely.Raiseoneendaboveyourheadandspooltodrainwateroutoftheotherend.
Iftheunitwillnotbeexposedtofreezingtemperatures,analternativetoreducebiologicalgrowthistoflushtheunitwithabio-fungicidethatisapprovedforusewithcopper,aluminumandpolyethylene.Toflush:
1. Runthehosetoadrain.
2. Plugintheunitbutdonotturniton.
3. Removetheairfilter.Slowlypouraquartofthechemicalthroughtheheatexchanger
4. Holdinthepumppurgeswitchtoreducethewaterlevelinthereservoir.
5. Flushwithwater.
4 Service
CAUTION: Servicing the Phoenix 200HT with its high pressure refrigerant system and high voltage circuitry presents a health hazard which could result in death, serious bodily injury, and/or property damage. Only qualified service people should service this unit.
4.1 Technical DescriptionThePhoenix200HTusesarefrigerationsystemsimilartoanairconditioner’storemoveheatandmoisturefromincomingair,andtoaddheattotheairthatisdischarged(seeFig.2).
Hot,highpressurerefrigerantgasisroutedfromthecompressortothecondensercoil(seeFigure2).Therefrigerantiscooledandcondensedbygivingupitsheattotheairthatisabouttobedischargedfromtheunit.Therefrigerantliquidthenpassesthroughafilter/drierandcapillarytubingwhichcausetherefrigerantpressureandtemperaturetodrop.Itnextenterstheevaporatorcoilwhereitabsorbsheatfromtheincomingairandevaporates.
Theevaporatoroperatesinafloodedcondition,whichmeansthatalltheevaporatortubescontainliquidrefrigerantduringnormaloperation.Afloodedevaporatorshouldmaintainconstantpressureandtemperatureacrosstheentirecoil,frominlettooutlet.
Themixtureofgasandliquidrefrigerantentertheaccumulatorafterleavingtheevaporatorcoil.Theaccumulatorpreventsanyliquidrefrigerantfromreaching

4.6 Refrigerant ChargingIftherefrigerantchargeislostduetoserviceoraleak,anewchargemustbeaccuratelyweighedin.Ifanyoftheoldchargeisleftinthesystem,itmustberemovedbeforeweighinginthenewcharge.Refertotheunitnameplateforthecorrectchargeweightandrefrigeranttype.
4.7 Compressor/Capacitor ReplacementThiscompressorisequippedwithatwoterminalexternaloverload,runcapacitor,butnostartcapacitor.
4.8 Gravity Drain OptionIfthecondensatepumpfailsandcannotbereplacedimmediately,thePhoenix200HTcanbeusedbydrainingbygravity.
1. Unplugtheunitandremovethefrontcover.
2. Pushtheplasticplugontherightside(seeFig.4)outfrominsidetheunit.
3. Locatetheheavyvinylhosethatconnectsthedrainpantothecondensatepump.Pulltheendoutofthepump.
4. Removetiewrapholdingdraintubetosuctionline.
5. Pushthatendofthevinylhosethroughtheholeintherightside.
6. Connectagardenhoseandrunittoadrain.Keep
thehoseasflattotheflooraspossibletoavoidairpocketsthatwouldhinderdraining.Placingtheunitonsomethingabovethefloorwillalsoimprovedraining.

First Year Warranty:Therma-Storwarrantsthat,forone(1)yearthePhoenix200HTdehumidifierwilloperatefreefromanydefectsinmaterialsandworkmanship,orTherma-Storwill,atitsoption,repairorreplacethedefectivepart(s),freeofanycharge.
Second Through Fifth Year Warranty:Therma-Storfurtherwarrantsthatforaperiodoffive(5)years,thecondenser,evaporator,andcompressorofthePhoenix200HTdehumidifierwilloperatefreeofanydefectsinmaterialorworkmanship,orTherma-Stor,atitsoption,willrepairorreplacethedefectivepart(s),providedthatalllaborandtransportationchargesforthepart(s)shallbebornebytheend-user.
End-User Responsibilities:WarrantyservicemustbeperformedbyaServicerauthorizedbyTherma-Stor.Iftheend-userisunabletolocateorobtainwarrantyservicefromanauthorizedServicer,heshouldcallTherma-StorattheabovenumberandaskfortheTherma-StorServiceDepartment.,whichwillthenarrangeforcoveredwarrantyservice.Warrantyservicewillbeperformedduringnormalworkinghours.
Theend-usermustpresentproofofpurchase(lease)uponrequest,byreasonableandreliablemeans.Theend-userisresponsiblefornormalcare.Thiswarrantydoesnotcoveranydefect,malfunction,etc.resultingfrommisuse,abuse,lackofnormalcare,corrosion,freezing,tampering,modification,unauthorizedorimproperrepairorinstallation,accident,actsofnatureoranyothercausebeyondTherma-Stor’reasonablecontrol.
Limitations and Exclusions:IfanyPhoenix200HTDehumidifierpartisrepairedorreplaced,thenewpartshallbewarrantedforonlytheremainderoftheoriginalwarrantyperiodapplicablethereto(butallwarrantyperiodswillbeextendedbytheperiodoftime,ifany,thatthePhoenix200HTDehumidifierisoutofservicewhileawaitingcoveredwarrantyservice).
UPONTHEEXPIRATIONOFTHEWRITTENWARRANTYAPPLICABLETOTHEPhoenix200HTDEHUMIDIFIERORANYPARTTHEREOF,ALLOTHERWARRANTIESIMPLIEDBYLAW,INCLUDINGMERCHANTABILITYANDFITNESSFORAPARTICULARPURPOSE,SHALLALSOEXPIRE.ALLWARRANTIESMADEBYTherma-StorARESETFORTHHEREIN,ANDNOCLAIMMAYBEMADEAGAINSTTherma-StorBASEDONANYORALWARRANTY.INNOEVENTSHALLTherma-Stor,INCONNECTIONWITHTHESALE,INSTALLATION,USE,REPAIRORREPLACEMENTOFANYPhoenix200HTDEHUMIDIFIERORPARTTHEREOFBELIABLEUNDERANYLEGALTHEORYFORANYSPECIAL,INDIRECTORCONSEQUENTIALDAMAGESINCLUDINGWITHOUTLIMITATIONWATERDAMAGE(THEEND-USERSHOULDTAKEPRECAUTIONSAGAINSTSAME),LOSTPROFITS,DELAY,ORLOSSOFUSEORDAMAGETOANYREALORPERSONALPROPERTY.
Somestatesdonotallowlimitationsonhowlonganimpliedwarrantylasts,andsomedonotallowtheexclusionorlimitationofincidentalorconsequentialdamages,sooneorbothoftheselimitationmaynotapplytoyou.
