It is suggested that the Edge™ Storage System is setup in a space that is large enough to safely handle the
cartons, pieces, finished columns, and dunnage.
Inspect the condition of the wall and floor where the columns will be located. Determine the highest
point on the floor, which will establish the leveled height of each bank. The Edge Storage System will
conform with a wall that varies within 1” of straightness horizontally and 1/2” vertically.
BEfOrE YOu BEgiN
• Read the complete assembly procedure before beginning to assemble the columns.
• Hardware packs may contain extra fasteners that will not be required on your installation.

fasTeners
Because materials and construction of floors and walls can vary, fasteners for attaching the
Edge Storage System to the structure are not provided. The installer must choose the appropriate
fastener and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Fastener guidelines:
• If the floor is wood construction, attachment should be by sheet metal or lag screws (#10 minimum).
• If the floor is concrete, attachment should be by ¼” concrete screw (Tapcon), ¼” drive nail or
sheet metal screws (#10 minimum) into metal inserts.
• If the wall is wood stud-and-drywall construction, attachment should be by lag screws
(¼” minimum) into every stud.
If the edge of the Wall Rail ends between studs, a toggle bolt must be used within 2” of each edge.
• If the wall is metal stud-and-drywall construction, attachment should be by toggle bolt (snap toggle)
(¼” minimum) into every stud. Toggle bolt (¼” minimum) to be used between studs.
If the edge of the Wall Rail ends between studs, a toggle bolt must be used within 2” of each edge.
• If the wall is concrete block construction, attachment should be by concrete screws (#10 minimum)
(Tapcon), ¼” drive nail or toggle bolt (¼” minimum), spaced no more than 24” apart.
• If the wall is poured concrete construction, attachment should be by concrete screw (Tapcon) or
wedge-type concrete anchors, spaced no more than 24” apart.
Inferior or improperly installed fasteners
could cause sudden collapse of the
Edge Storage System.
Serious injury or damage may result.

CRITICAL STEP: The entire Edge Storage System is built off of the Wall Rail that is attached to
the wall along a chalk line. Be sure that the chalk line starts at the left end of
the bank, is level and extends the entire length of the bank.
1. Determine highest point on the floor (along both the length and width of the system) using a laser
pointer or carpenter’s level.2. Measure up 69.125” or 85” (depending on height of the bank) on the wall from this highest point
and mark a level chalk line along the entire span of the storage system according to the layout plan drawing.

IMPORTANT: If back panels are not being installed, skip ahead to Wall Rail Installation.
If back panels are being installed, they must be installed before all other
components and cannot be added later.
1. Working from left to right, hang the back panels along the chalk line. the back panels will not reach all the way to the floor.
a. Start the first panel 7/8” in from the start of the bank (starting point of the Wall Rail).
b. Attach the back panels to the wall surface using double-sided tape along the top edge. If multiple back panels are being attached, also use double-sided tape to attach the seams.Clean the back panel surfaces with isopropyl alcohol before applying tape.
2. The final back panel must end 7/8” short of the end of the bank (ending point of the Wall Rail) and may have to be cut to the appropriate width. The total width of the back panels must be 13/4” less than the overall width of the bank.
Before attaching the final back panel, measure and mark the width. Lay the back panel flat and cut it with a Jig Saw using a 7’ Straight Edge as a guide and Clamps.

and layout plan drawing. The individual part numbers are located on the back side of each
Wall Rail piece.
if starting a Wall rail next to an already installed bank or a wall, it must be started
at least 1” from the end of the End panel or wall.
2. Working from left to right, start the first Wall Rail piece 7/8” in from the starting point of the bank.
Position the top edge of the Wall Rail on the chalk line and secure in place using the appropriate
fasteners and method as indicated in the “Fasteners” section.
a fastener must be within 2” of the end of each Wall rail piece.

For both practical and cosmetic purposes on Column 411, Floor Cleats are attached to the outside
surfaces of the Divider panels using the same fasteners and methods as the other columns.
If space does not allow, attach the Floor Cleats to the inside surface.
The Column 411 requires a Top Support Bracket (#26) to be installed in the Wall Rail.
Postion the Top Support Bracket into the front facing channel of the Wall Rail at the middle
of the Column 411 width as shown with the tab at the bottom.
No fasteners are attached to Top Support Bracket until the Top Panels are installed.
If the optional Back Panels are being installed, a Rear Stretcher is provided to conceal the gap between the Back Panel and the floor. The Rear Stretcher is attached at the back of the column and flush with the bottom of the Divider Panel using two Top Panel Brackets and #8 x 5/8” Painted Truss Head Screws (#20).
If a Column 411 is at the end of a bank, an End Extrusion (#23) must be installed on the End Panel using a #8 x 17/8” Anchor Screw (#19).

Be sure that the toe kick panels are tight against the panels, Brackets and Splice Connectors
while attaching them.
1. Working from left to right, attach the Toe Kick Panels according to the Specific Part List
and layout plan drawing.
The Toe Kick Panel sections can split only centered over a Splice Connector and Divider Panel.
The Toe Kick Panel sections should be positioned using a Wonder Bar to be flush with the
notched surface of the panels rather than flush with the floor.
The edge banding on the outside surface of the Toe Kick Panel should overhang the
outside surface of the End Panel on both ends of the bank.
Secure the Toe Kick Panels along the front bottom edge of the bank to the already attached
Toe Kick Brackets with two #8 x 5/8” Pan Head Screws (#1).
2. Screw in all of the Splice Connectors while

dOOr SEtS aNd ExtruSiONSCRITICAL STEP: All Shelves must be installed
before proceeding! All front surfaces will be covered by either a Door Set or an Extrusion.
1. Hang the Door Sets and Extrusions
according to the Specific Part List and
layout plan drawing.
For correct placement and door swing,
the part number label should be at the
bottom.
If the bank has no doors, an Extrusion
will be hung in place.
It is recommended to hang the narrowest
Single Door Sets first, working up to the
wider Door Sets.
CRITICAL STEP: Verify that the door size matches the compartment that it is covering. Also check shelf positions and latch alignment before
attaching doors!
2. Hang the Door Sets by positioning the posts
inside each Door Extrusion slightly above
the Extrusion Clips located on the End Panel
or Divider Panel and lowering it to engage
with the Extrusion Clips.
Be sure to engage every Post and
Extrusion Clip.
3. Drive the Extrusion down into place
using a Dead Blow Hammer on the
top of the Extrusion.
Door Sets are properly placed when
the top of the Extrusion is flush with
the top edge of the End Panel or
Divider Panel.
Verify that the door size matches the
compartment it is covering. Also check
shelf positions and latch alignment.

CRITICAL STEP: Position all Top Panels into place before attaching them!
1. Attach the Top Panels at the End Panels
first.
Refer to the Specific Part List and layout
plan drawing for the correct order.
For correct placement, the part number
label must be on the top-rear surface.
use the Spacer Blocks to ensure proper
spacing when attaching the top panels
2. Slide each Top Panel section under the lip
of the Wall Rail.
Be sure that the edge banded sides are
facing outward.
The splices between the individual Top Panel
sections can only occur centered over a
Divider Panel and Splice Connector.
Adjust the Top Panels for the best fit, with the
front surfaces lining up to each other.
3. Set the overhang of the Top Panel to be 1/8” beyond the End Panel on both
the left and right side. The edge banding on the right and left sides of the
Top Panel should overhang the outside surface of the End Panels.
Use the Spacer Blocks to set each Divider panel.
If the Top Panel does not fit or is too large/small:
• No parts should require any cutting.
• Check the dimensions of the Wall Rail and the full bank.
• Check that the bank matches the drawing.
• Verify that part numbers match the Specific Part List for that bank.
4. Force each Top Panel to be tight with the End Panels and Divider Panels while attaching.
This will require two people.
5. With the Top Panels in position, attach the Top Brackets in each End Panel to the Top Panels using two #8 x 5/8” Pan Head Screws (#1) in each.
6. Attach the Corner Brackets on the End Panels to the Top Panels using one #8 x 5/8” Pan Head Screw (#1) in each.

If parts get mixed-up from the pallets:
• Look for part labels and put them back in order by bank, referencing the Specific Parts List.
• Consult the layout plan drawing for shelf placement based on the dimensions of a column.
• Consult the layout plan drawing for hole patterns for shelf placement on End Panels.
• Consult the layout plan drawing for any Special Panels needed and any special parts
Once all parts are placed back in order by bank, begin the installation as instructed.
If a Door Set needs to be removed:
• Top Panels must first be removed.
• Use a 2x4 and a Wonderbar to apply leverage to the bottom of the Extrusion to force it up and off of
the pins.
• This requires two people.
If an Extrusion or Door Set will not engage all three screws or is difficult to place:
• Slightly loosen the screws on the front edge of the panel.
