CHAPTER 1

1.1 INTRODUCTION

This manual covers the Firebeta Standard Control Panel (FBS) and the Firebeta Budget Control Panel (FBB).The Firebeta fire control panel provides conventional detection of fire and can cover 2, 4, 8 and 12 zones. Thepanel is mains powered and also has space for two 7 amphour standby batteries (not supplied). It providesvisible and audible indications of fire.

1.2 DESCRIPTION (Refer to Figure 1)

The Firebeta Control Panel consists of a backbox with a battery bracket and includes 20 mm knockouts forcable entry. The Firebeta Standard has a hinged, removable door which is retained with a locking catch andincorporates the panel display. The Firebeta Budget has a removable front panel retained with screws andincorporates the panel display. The panel display has zone windows, status windows and user controls. Theback of the backbox has a keyhole locating hole for positioning and can be secured through the four 4 mmindented holes located near each corner.

1.2.1 PANEL DISPLAY (Refer to Figure 2)

The panel zone windows have a fault light (yellow) and an alarm light (red) next to each zone window.The panel status windows have a single light next to each window. All lights are coloured yellowexcept the POWER ON light (green) and the ALARM light (red). The lower section contains the usercontrol buttons for programming, test and maintenance and a numeric button key pad with a cancel( ←←←← ) and enter ( ↵↵↵↵ ) button.

1.3 OPERATION

Under normal operating conditions, the green POWER ON light is on. The zone window lights are off. When afire condition is detected:

• the relevant red zone alarm light flashes

• the red ALARM light flashes

• the alarm sounder circuits are activated (unless programmed off)

• an audible buzzer on the panel sounds.

If a fault occurs in one or more zones:

• the relevant yellow zone fault light flashes

• the yellow COMMON FAULT light flashes

• an audible buzzer on the panel sounds intermittently.

If a status fault occurs:

• the relevant yellow status fault light flashes

• the yellow COMMON FAULT light flashes

• an audible buzzer on the panel sounds intermittently.

1.3.1 WHEN AN ALARM CONDITION OCCURS

If a fire indication shows (refer to OPERATION) in one or more zones and after the appropriate fire drillhas been completed, to switch off the buzzer:

• press the SILENCE BUZZER button (the audible buzzer stops, the zone light and the ALARMlight continue flashing. The audible alarm circuits continue to sound unless programmed off)

When the fire condition has been rectified, to reset the system:

• enter level 2 (the yellow PANEL ENABLED light comes on).

• press the SILENCE ALARMS button (the audible alarms stop). The red zone alarm light and theALARM light stay on. (If another zone alarm condition occurs, the new red zone alarm light andthe ALARM light flashes, the buzzer and audible alarms sound and the original red zone alarmlight stays on) Note: It is not possible to reset the panel until the SILENCE ALARMS button hasbeen pressed.

• when all zone fire conditions have been rectified, press the RESET button. Press ←←←← (the panelreverts to Level 1).

If the fire condition still exists, the panel will revert to the alarm condition. To reset the panel it may benecessary to clear smoke or heat from the detectors and to replace the glass in the manual fire callpoint.

1.3.2 TO ISOLATE A ZONE

To isolate a zone from the protection system:

• enter Level 2 (the yellow PANEL ENABLED light comes on)

• press the ISOLATE button and enter the relevant zone number(s) on the numerical buttons (therelevant yellow zone light comes on and the DISABLEMENT light comes on). Repeat for theisolation of additional zones.

Note: For the 12 zone panel, each zone requires a two digit entry, ie. zone 1 = 01, zone 2 =02 etc.

• to-re-instate a zone into the protection system, enter level 2, press the ISOLATE button and enterthe relevant zone number(s) on the numerical buttons (the relevant yellow zone light goes off andthe DISABLEMENT light goes off)

Note: Allow at least 10 seconds to elapse before re-instating a zone after isolation.

• Press ←←←← (the panel reverts to Level 1)

1.3.3 TO ACTIVATE ALL ALARMS FOR EVACUATION

To activate all alarms:

• enter Level 2 (the yellow PANEL ENABLED light comes on)

• press the EVACUATE button (the buzzer sounds, all zone alarms sound and the ALARM lightflashes)

• to stop the alarms sounding, enter Level 2, press the SILENCE ALARMS button (the buzzerstops, all zone alarms stop and the ALARM light stays on)

• to reset the system, press the RESET button. Press ←←←← (the panel reverts to Level 1).

1.4 ACCESS TO SYSTEM CONTROLS (Refer to Table 1)

There are four levels of system control:

Pass codes are entered on the numeric button key pad. Each operation of the key pad operates an internalbuzzer to confirm entry.

When the last number is entered, the panel enters the relevant access level. If there is no operation of thepanel control keys for a 3 minute period, the access level automatically times back to access level 1.

For the 8 and 12 zone versions, access to level 4 is via switch SW3, leaf 2, which should be placed in the ONposition (part number 44782-K112) (Refer to Figure 3).

For the 2 and 4 zone versions, access to level 4 is via a hardware link LK10 positioned on the Main ControlProcessor PCB (part number 44782-K097) (Refer to Figure 4).

Level 4 access is only used for programming of the panel.

An optional feature exists on the Main Control Processor card, where a set of terminals (screened TB3 for the8 & 12 zone and TB14 for the 2 & 4 zone panels) provide entry into access level 2. Refer to section 1.11 forfurther operational information.

1.5 CONTROL BUTTONS

The operation of the control buttons is dependent upon the selected pass code, as certain keys only operate inspecific access levels. Table 2 details the control keys and the access levels they are allowed to operate in.

Used mainly for the selection of access level pass codes, to select programming menu level optionsand for the entry of panel information.

1.5.1 Cancel

Allows the user to clear access levels 2 and 3.

1.5.2 Enter

Used in level 2, 3 and 4 to enable the user to input numeric information.

1.5.3 Silence Buzzer

Used to silence the internal panel buzzer and to acknowledge the operation of the delay timers T1 andT2. Operation of this button whilst T1 is counting down causes T2 to start, if programmed.

1.5.4 Numeric buttons (0 to 9)

1.5.5 Silence Alarms

When an alarm condition is present operation of this button causes the flashing ALARM light and therelevant zone light to come on constantly. Operation of theSILENCE ALARMS button deactivates theaudible alarms and any outputs that may have been programmed to deactivate and cancels theoperation of timers T1 and T2. It is possible to assign a time delay to this button that will not allowoperation until expiry of the delay timer. This feature is available within the programming menu option(refer to Chapter 4.8).

1.5.6 Delay Override

This is only functional during an alarm condition and allows the user to override the operations of T1,T2 and T3 time delays. Operation of the button instructs the sounder and auxiliary relays to operate,dependent upon panel programming.

1.5.7 Reset

Operation of the Reset key is only accessible at access levels 2 or 3. When operated, any activationexisting on the control panel is cleared and the control panel returns to status normal.

1.5.8 Isolate

Pressing the isolate button followed by the relevant zone number causes the DISABLEMENT statuslight and the relevant zone fault light to come on constantly. The same operation must be repeated forisolation of further zones. Disablement overrides alarms and faults. For de-isolation of zone(s) theoperation of the isolate button and the isolate zone number reinstates the isolated zone. A time periodof 10 seconds must be allowed between isolating and de-isolating a zone.

Note: A two digit zone entry is required for the 12 zone panel, i.e. 01, 02, 03 etc.

1.5.9 Evacuate

This causes all sounder circuits to activate, the ALARM status light comes on pulsed and the internalpanel buzzer operates constantly. When in the Evacuate mode the output operation remains until theSILENCE ALARMS button has been operated causing the ALARM light to come on constantly untilthe PANEL RESET button has been operated.

1.5.10 Test

Operation of the Test button within access level 2 initiates a panel test of the lights and of the internalbuzzer for 5 seconds. No other outputs within the control panel are operated.

Operation of theTest button within access level 3 allows the user to carry out a One Man Walk Test ofthe detection zones. Operation of the Test button followed by the required zone number causes theselected zone to enter the Test option. This causes theTEST MODE status light and the relevant zonefault light to flash.

When a zone is in test mode, activation of a detection device causes both the ALARM status light andthe zone alarm light to flash.

The activated detection device light comes on for 5 seconds to confirm the alarm condition and isremoved on automatic reset of the zone. The automatic reset allows the next detector in the zoneunder test to be activated.

The sounder and auxiliary relay circuits have a default operation during test mode. Sounders remainactive until reset, unless they are otherwise programmed as defined in section 4.3. The outputsdeactivate on automatic reset. Operation of the RESET button terminates the Test Mode facility.

1.6 INTERNAL CONTROLS

Two switches, SW1 and SW2 on the Master Control Processor PCB are used when the control panel ispowered up.

SW1 is used to restart the Main Control Processor. When operated the control panel restarts, brings theSYSTEM FAULT status light on and sounds the internal panel buzzer constantly. To remove the SYSTEMFAULT and stop the internal buzzer, operate SW2.

1.7 INTERNAL LINK SELECTIONS

Figure 5 shows the layout of the link arrangement on the Master Control Processor PCB. Pin 1 of each Link setis designated by the bold screening as shown. Table 3 details the default settings of the link and the alternativeoptions capable of being selected via the links.

1.8 ADDITIONAL INPUTS

The following inputs are for internal connections only that require a Switched 0v input. The control panelincludes a set of inputs situated on the Main PCB. The default setting for these inputs are set within thesoftware and operate as shown in Table 4 and are for internal use only.

1.9 OUTPUTS

The control panel is provided with a set of standard outputs covering sounders, relays and open collectoroutputs.

1.9.1 Sounder Outputs

The control panel is supplied as standard with 2 common sounder circuits positioned on the MainControl Processor. The sounder circuits operate for any zonal fire condition and are both rated at 500mA at 28 V dc.

1.9.2 Relay Outputs

The control panel is supplied as standard with 2 common Auxiliary relay outputs each rated at 1 ampat 30 V dc positioned on the Main Control Processor.

Within the Firebeta standard control panel each zone is provided with an individual output relay ratedat 1 amp at 30 V dc.

These relays have a default operation, which is zone of origin constant while the remainder are silentunless otherwise programmed via the programmable options of the control panel.

The Firebeta control panel incorporates a Fault Relay rated at 1 amp 30 V dc. This relay is normallyenergised during power up and de-energises during any fault condition raised by the control panel.

Table 5 details the open collector switched 0v outputs each rated at 50mA at 24 V dc. These areprovided for internal connections only.

1.10 INTERNAL FUSES

Tables 6 and 7 detail the control panels internal fuses.

1.11 ADDITIONAL CONNECTIONS

A set of terminals labelled ACCESS INHIBIT are positioned on the Main Control Processor card (TB14 FBS 2and 4 zone panels, TB3 8 and 12 zone panels) which when shorted out, via a switch, causes the control panelto enter into access level 2. Only by removal of the short on these terminals will the access level beterminated.

Take care not to install cables in the proximity of high voltage cables or in areas likely to induce electricalinterference. Junction boxes should be avoided but if they have to be installed then they must clearly belabelled "Fire Alarm". Refer to Figures 6 and 7 for External Wiring Diagram.

WARNING:

The static handling procedures must be adhered to and extreme caution must be exercised when workinginside the control panel due to the presence of mains voltage 230 V ac.

2.1.1 Static Sensitive Devices

A static sensitive device is any transistor or integrated circuit that may be permanently damaged due toelectrostatic potentials and is generally encountered during routine handling, repair and transportation.

Static electricity is produced almost every time plastics or textiles are stroked or separated.

Static charges are collected on adjacent conductors and are delivered in the form of sparks passingbetween conductors through insulating space or material. The sweat layer on the human skin is asufficient medium to store induced static charges and deliver them to any receptive conductor such asa component or printed circuit board.

Static discharges can be reduced by following these guide lines:

1. Always use conductive or anti-static containers for transportation and storage.

2. Wear an earth wrist strap while handling, ensuring a good earth connection is maintained.

3. Never subject a static sensitive device to a sliding movement over any surface and avoid anydirect contact with the pins.

4. Avoid placing sensitive devices on plastic or vinyl surfaces.

5. Minimize the handling of sensitive devices and PCB's.

All static sensitive devices are marked accordingly, but it is good engineering practice to treat allcomponents and boards with the same degree of protection.

2.2 INSTALLATION

The keyhole location provides a provisional means of fixing the back box to its desired location that allowsalignment. Final fixing is accomplished by utilizing the four indented holes.

Protect the enclosure and the outer door during installation.

All external cables must enter the control panel using compression glands (refer to Figure 8) via the 20 mmpre-formed knockouts located on the top of the enclosure. When the installation of all cables has beencompleted, clean the interior of the enclosure ensuring that all debris is removed.

2.3 COMMISSIONING

Check that all external wiring is correctly identified and, using a multimeter, check that the cables are free fromfault conditions (earth, short-circuit and open-circuit).

Connect the external wiring into their respective terminals replacing any end-of-line resistors to the last deviceon the circuit.

Before connecting the mains supply use a multimeter to ensure that the supply is not present and takeprecautionary steps to avoid accidental application of the supply. Connect the supply cables into the mainsinput terminals and remove the local mains fuse located in the top right hand corner of the enclosure.

CAUTION:

Always apply mains power first. Do not power up using the battery first as this may damage criticalcomponents.

Before powering up the panel, carry out these preliminary checks:

1. Check for any visible signs of damage that may have been caused during the installation.

2. Verify that all installation instructions have been adhered to.

3. Physically check that the main PCB is secure in its mounting.

4. Check that the ribbon cable is secure and correctly connected.

5. Check that all cable terminations are secured.

All damage/faults must be rectified before proceeding.

At this stage a resistor is still connected across the battery terminals (10k ohm 0.25 W).

Apply the mains supply from the remote source. Using a multimeter check that the supply voltage is present atthe on-board mains terminal (230 V ac +10% -15%), insert the mains fuse and check that the panel performsthe following functions:

1. The POWER ON status light comes on.

2. The SYSTEM FAULT status light comes on.

3. The internal buzzer operates in a constant mode.

4. The fault relay de-energises.

5. The fault repeat drives.

No other fault indications should be present at this stage and if faults exist they will require clearing beforecontinuing. At this stage the batteries are not to be connected leaving the 10kohm resistor to hold off the faultcondition. The system fault status light can be reset by the operation of SW2, system fault cancel switch (referto section 1.6), positioned on the main control processor card.

Place the multimeter probes across the battery terminals (with the resistor still in place) and check the outputvoltage is between 27.2 and 27.7 V.

Note: The power supply providing the charging voltage for the batteries is temperature compensated. Changesin temperature will cause the output voltage to change. This output is factory set and should not beadjusted.

Enter access level 2, refer to section 1.4, checking that the PANEL ENABLE status light comes on andremains on until access has been terminated. Operate the EVACUATE button and check that the soundercircuits operate continuously and when the SILENCE ALARM button is pressed, that the sounder circuitsde-activate.

2.3.1 Supply Checks

Before installing the batteries carry out the following procedures:

1. Check batteries for transit damage.

2. Check battery open-circuit terminal voltage.

3. Record the installation date.

2.3.2 Remove the resistor from the battery terminals and make sure that the PSU FAULT status lightcomes on, the COMMON FAULT status light comes on and that the internal buzzer operates in apulsed mode.

Note: The POWER ON status light should remain on.

CAUTION:

Ensure that the combined battery voltage is not less than 21 V dc before installation.

To install the batteries on the Firebeta Standard (Refer to Figure 9):

1. Place the batteries (1) in the bottom of the enclosure with the terminals towards the outside.

2. Connect the two lower terminals, positive and negative together with the link wire (2).

3. Connect the positive and negative wires from the pcb to the battery terminals (3) ensuring correctpolarity (+ve to +ve and -ve to -ve).

4. Install the strap (4) and secure with the nuts (5).

Note: In later installations self adhesive Velcro pads applied to the batteries and the enclosure replace thebattery bracket (4) and the nuts (5). The pads should be applied before installing the batteries.

To install the batteries on the Firebeta Budget (Refer to Figure 10):

1. Place the batteries (1) in the bottom of the enclosure in the position shown with the terminals towardsthe outside.

2. Connect the two inner terminals, positive and negative together with the link wire (2).

3. Connect the positive and negative wires from the pcb to the battery terminals (3) ensuring correctpolarity (+ve to +ve and -ve to -ve).

Press the RESET button and check that the panel reverts to the normal condition and the POWER ON statuslight is on.

The control panels have a thermistor, part of the PCB, which monitors the temperature of the batteries andautomatically adjusts the charging current accordingly. The batteries should be allowed to charge for a full 24hours prior to load tests being performed.

Induce the following supply fault conditions and check that the POWER ON, COMMON FAULT andPSU FAULT status lights come on and the internal buzzer pulses. The panel self resets after each faultcondition has been cleared.

1. Open-circuit the battery supply, then restore to normal.

2. Remove the mains fuse, then restore to normal.

3. Remove F3 on the main PCB, then restore to normal – 2 & 4 zone panels only.

4. Remove F1 on the main PCB, then restore to normal – 8 & 12 zone panels only.

2.3.3 Zone Checks

For each detection zone carry out the following procedures:

1. Remove one leg of the external wiring (or end-of-line resistor) and check that the correct zone faultlight (Yellow) flashes in sympathy with the COMMON FAULT status light as well as the internalbuzzer. Operate the SILENCE BUZZER button and check that the internal buzzer is inhibited.Replace the wiring (or end-of-line resistor). The panel automatically resets the fault condition. Checkthat the panel reverts to the normal status, i.e. the POWER ON light only will be on.

2. Induce a short-circuit condition to the external wiring (or end-of-line resistor) and check that the correctzone fault light (Yellow) flashes in sympathy with theCOMMON FAULT status as well as the internalbuzzer. Operate the SILENCE BUZZER button and check that the internal buzzer is inhibited.Remove the short circuit; the panel automatically resets. Check that the panel reverts to the normaloperating condition i.e. the POWER ON light will be on.

3. Using a 510 ohm resistor apply an alarm condition to the zone terminals, check that the correct zonalalarm light (red), the ALARM status light flashes and that the internal buzzer operates in a constantmode. Check that the sounder circuits operate constantly and the internal buzzer is inhibited when theSILENCE BUZZER is operated. Enter access level 2, refer to section 1.4, and operate the

SILENCE ALARMS button causing the sounders to de-activate. The relevant zone alarm light and

the ALARM status light operate in a constant mode. Press the RESET button and check that the

panel reverts to the normal operating status i.e. the POWER ON status light only will be on.

4. All detection devices connected to the control panel must be tested for correct operation and zonedesignation.

5. Any earth faults will cause the common fault and the EARTH FAULT status light to come on, on thecontrol panel membrane and the internal buzzer to operate pulsed.

2.3.4 Sounder Circuit Checks

For each sounder circuit carry out the following procedures:

1. Apply a short-circuit condition to one of the sounder circuits and ensure that the COMMON FAULTand the SOUNDER FAULT status light comes on and the internal buzzer operates pulsed.

2. Clear the fault condition and check that the panel reverts to the normal operating condition i.e. thePOWER ON status light only will be on.

3. Apply an open-circuit condition to a sounder circuit and ensure that the COMMON FAULT and the

SOUNDER FAULT status light comes on and the internal buzzer operates pulsed. Clear the fault

condition and check that the panel reverts to the operating condition i.e. the POWER ON status lightonly will be on.

4. The audibility level of the sounders should be checked to ensure that they conform to BS 5839 Part 1,Section 2 clause 9.4 or the relevant national standard.

CHAPTER 3

3.1 GENERAL

Maintenance of equipment extraneous to the control panel will be detailed in the appropriate manufacturer'sliterature.

The back up batteries are maintenance free but should be replaced every 4-5 years.

The components of the control panel are designed to last for 15 years. All printed circuit boards areself-monitoring and therefore should only be replaced as required.

3.2 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

Routine maintenance should be carried out in accordance with BS 5839 Pt 1 section 4 clause 29.2 or therelevant national standard.

All performance checks undertaken should be recorded in a system log book.

As a minimum, the following performance checks must be undertaken on each maintenance visit.

WARNING:

1. Carry out checks described in 2.3.1; 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 in section 2.3 Commissioning.

2. Remove dust and dirt from the panel exterior using a soft brush or a lint cloth. A solvent, which isharmless to the finishes of metal and plastic, may be applied to more stubborn stains.

3. Examine the exterior of the enclosure for any signs of damage or loose cable glands and rectify anyfaults found.

4. Remove any dust or dirt from the interior of the control panel using a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner,

5. Examine the printed circuit boards for signs of over-heating or damaged tracks. Replace any defectiveitems.

6. Examine the battery terminals for security and for signs of corrosion. Replace or repair as required.

3.3 TEST MODE

The TEST button has two functions depending upon the access level entered; Lamp Test and Zone Test.

3.3.1 Lamp Test

To test the panel lights and audible buzzer:

1. enter Level 2 (the yellow PANEL ENABLED light comes on)

2. press the TEST button

3. make sure that all panel lights come on for five seconds and then go off and the audiblebuzzer sounds for five seconds and then stops

4. press the RESET button (the panel reverts to Level 1)

3.3.2 Zone Test

The zone test facility is limited to access level 3. To place a zone in Test Mode, operate the TESTbutton and select the required zone number on the numeric keypad. This causes the PANELENABLE status light to flash slowly and the TEST and selected zone light to flash rapidly. Theconnected zone detectors can then be tested which causes the redALARM and the zone Alarm lightsto come on for approx 5 seconds then automatically go off. The detector base light comes on toconfirm the device is being tested and clears on the automatic reset controlled by the panel. Thecommon sounders activate (default operation) whilst the device is in alarm and deactivate onautomatic reset. The automatic reset allows the next detection device to be tested.

To clear the Test Mode from a selected zone, operation of the PANEL RESET button returns thepanel to normal with only the POWER ON light and the PANEL ENABLED light on. It is possibleto individually disable the operation of the internal common sounder circuits and the auxiliary VFCOrelay outputs whilst in test mode. These are only selectable in access level 4. Refer to Chapter 4 ofthis manual.

3.4 POWER SUPPLY UNIT

The Firebeta range of panels come complete with an internal power supply unit, incorporating mains fuse blockand transformer which connects into TB12 (2 + 4 zone panel) and TB1 (8 + 12 zone panel) on the main panelprocessor board. The panel can also be powered from an external PSU, by changing the position LK9 (notavailable on FBB versions) and connecting the 28 V dc from the external source into TB13, for 2 and 4 zoneand TB2 for 8 and 12 zone panels. A fault terminal is also given on TB13 for the fault monitoring of the externalPSU.

For both internal and external power supplies, battery input terminals are given on TB11/TB12 of the processorboard. If no batteries are connected, a 10k ohm 0.25w resistor should be connected across the batteryterminals of TB11/TB12 to clear the PSU fault report.

Note: TB11 is for 2 and 4 zone panels, TB12 is for 8 and 12 zone panels.

There is also a thermistor (NTC 1) located on the bottom of the PCB, used for temperature compensatedcharging of the standby batteries.

3.5 BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Refer to Chapter 2 Installation and Commissioning for the installation of new batteries.

CHAPTER 4

4.1 GENERAL

The control panel must be in User Level 4 to give access to the programming option.To enter the programmingset link LK10 (for the 2 and 4 zone panels) or switch 3, leaf 2, (for the 8 and 12 zone panels) in the position asdetailed in section 1.7. Once within the set position the PANEL ENABLE status light flashes rapidly. Tocancel the programming menu return the link to its normal position. Operation of the CANCEL button abortsthe selected programming menu at any stage in the process and, unless the PROGRAM button has beenoperated, any modified data reverts to its previous settings.

The 16 programming options are detailedin Table 8.

4.4 LATCHING OR NON-LATCHING ZONE(S) - 03

This option selects the operation of the detection zone as either a Latching alarm (default) or as a Non-latchingalarm condition. This option is used for a special site configuration, for example monitoring of Plant equipmentor linking to an existing control panel.

Note - For each zone that is selected for non latching, the programme key must be operated i.e. 01, 1programme, 02, 1 programme, etc.

4.5 ZONAL RELAY DEACTIVATION - 04

This option is only relevant for the FBS 2, 4, 8 + 12 zone panels. This option level determines the de-activationof the zonal relay contacts after the initiation of an alarm condition upon operation of either Silence Alarms orReset. If the zone is set to Non-latching, as detailed within section 2.3, the zone relay de-energises when thezonal alarm condition is removed. This function is used for special site configurations, for example signalling toother equipment attached to the system.

4.6 INHIBIT SOUNDER AND AUXILIARY OUTPUTS - 05

This option inhibits the operation of both the Common Sounder and Common Auxiliary Relays after theinitiation of an alarm condition on a zone. It enables the control panel to monitor non-fire related equipment(e.g. Plant) or additional fire panels where the operation of the sounder and auxiliary relays may not normallybe desired.

4.7 ZONE THRESHOLD LEVELS - 06

This programming option level determines the alarm threshold level of individual detection zones. There arethree available alarm threshold windows as detailed in Table 9.

To enable one of three alarm threshold levels to be assigned to a zone a programming code must be entered.The selection of the required threshold also requires the setting of internal links upon the Main ControlProcessor Card refer to section 1.7 for link information.

4.12 T3 OUTPUT SILENT DELAY - 11.

This option provides a global time delay to the operation of Sounder and VFCO Relay outputs after theinitiation of an alarm condition and the completion of T1 and T2 timer settings. This time delay is dependentupon the configuration of the sounders and VFCO relay setup operation as detailed in section 4.14. T3 timedelay is selectable and can be set from 0 to 240 seconds; the timer has a default setting of 0 seconds.

Note: In the FBB2 and FBB4 panels T3 can be set but the output delayed light does not illuminate.

4.13 T4 ALERT OUTPUT OPERATION DELAY - 12.

This option provides a global Alert (pulsed) time period to the operation of Sounder and VFCO Relay outputsafter the initiation of an alarm condition and the completion of T1, T2 and T3 timer settings. This time delay isalso dependent upon the configuration of the sounder and VFCO relay set-up operation as detailed in section4.14. The time delay can be set from 0 to 60 minutes with the default setting at 0 minutes. An infinite alertperiod is also selectable, by entering a time period value of “061".

This global option determines the operation of all zonal auxiliary relay contacts located on the Master ControlProcessor. To select the operation of the zonal relays outputs within the control panel a programming codemust be entered. To view the programming status the zone fire lights to come on as detailedin Table 10.

4.17 CLEAR PROGRAMMING TO DEFAULT SETTINGS - 16

This option provides a means of clearing the program information back to the default settings. On selection, the“Earth Fault” status light operates constantly, indicating that the option has been accessed. Operation of thenumeric key 1 causes the Earth Fault light to pulse then operation of the program key removes the data.Operation of the program key causes the internal buzzer to operate for 3 seconds returning the system to itsdefault system settings. Operation of the cancel key allows the selection of further programming options.

The cancel key must be operated if any changes have been made to the program before level 4 accessis cancelled.

For the 12 zone panel, program options that require entry of a zone number, a two digit entry isrequired. e.g. Zone 3 - 03.

When programming of the control panel has been completed the programming link (refer to table 1.4) locatedon the Master Control Processor should be returned to its default position as detailed in section 1.7. On returnto its default position access level 4 is cancelled and the panel returns to its access level 1 setting.
