The RCU 20 consists of a communications module,and a separate power supply unit with jack for plug-ging into a wall socket.The RCU 20 enables operations to be controlled andmonitored using a computer connected to a local net-work or via the Internet.

It is possible to connect to the RCU 20 two indepen-dent switch functions to detect external events such asa movement alarm or freezing protection.Note that all configuration of the unit requires that acomputer is connected.

Stick the product label securely to the cover. The labelcan be placed in any orientation, depending on thelocation of the unit.Open the plastic cover by separating its two halves.The RCU 20 is placed outside the heat pump and itsbest location is mounted on a wall.Connect the communication cable in accordance withthe appropriate product description. Then continue withthe instructions under the heading “Final installation”.

FIGHTER 360PConnect the black communication cable (105) fromthe heat pump to the cable leading to the RCU 20,position (4) using the accompanying extension con-nector.Earlier versions of the FIGHTER 360P do not have thecable (105). Then connect the accompanying blackcommunication cable to the heat pump modular con-nector that is on the CPU card (34). Use the accompa-nying extension connector to connect the cable fromthe RCU 20 position (4).For communication to work, the CPU card in theFIGHTER 360P must have version number 2.00 orhigher.

FIGHTER 1120Connect the accompanying black communicationcable to the heat pump modular connector that is onthe CPU card (34). Use the accompanying extensionconnector to connect the cable from the RCU 20 posi-tion (4).For communication to work, the CPU card in theFIGHTER 1120 must have version number 1.03 orhigher.

Final installationConnect the 4-pole modular cable to the networkadapter output. Plug the network adapter into a near-by wall socket. Refit the plastic cover to the RCU 20.The heat pump must be configured, to permit commu-nication with the RCU 20. This is done via the servicemenus. Refer to the “Installation and MaintenanceInstructions” for the respective products.

Tip: Try to find a wall socket for the network adapterthat is fed from a different fuse than the fuse for theheat pump supply. The RCU 20 will then be able todetect if the heat pump shuts down.

The RCU 20 has a connection (5) for 10/100 MbpsEthernet.Connect the unit to a network, or alternatively direct toa computer with the Ethernet cabling. For connectionto a router or a hub/switch a straight-through cablemust be used, and for direct connection to a computera crossover cable must be used.A network with the RCU 20 connected to a router orhub/switch is recommended. For connection direct toa computer with Internet connection, two networkcards are required in the computer, and it must runcontinuously in order to provide the RCU 20 access tothe Internet.Internet connection is not necessary to be able toinstall and configure the unit, but is required foraccess to the unit via the Internet.

The RCU 20 has two digital inputs (7) (optically isolat-ed) for connection of an external signal. The inputsshall be 10 – 24 VDC for an active high signal and 0 –2 VDC for an inactive signal.

Starting

The RCU configuration software is a PC-based pro-gram that can be used to prepare different network-parameters in the RCU 20. The program can searchfor RCU 20 units on an Ethernet network, after whichthe IP address, network mask, gateway, DNS, etc.can be set. DHCP can also be activated in the unit.

Install by running the installation program Setup-Net-BiterConfig.exe that is on the supplied CD.

System requirements■ Pentium 133 MHz■ 5 MB free hard disk space■ Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP■ Network card (Ethernet)If a different operating system than Windows is usedthe configuration software can not be used. Then con-nect to the RCU’s preset IP address in the web brows-er and use the web interface to change the networksettings. See section “Starting” – “Logging in”.

Search for connected unitsWhen the program starts, it will automatically searchfor an RCU 20 network connection. A list will be dis-played of all units that are found. A new search can bemade by pressing the “Scan” button.

The RCU 20 has a preset IP address: 10.200.1.1. NOTE! Images and settings on the following pagesmay show some difference, depending on the brows-er, settings and the version of the RCU, as well as theheat pump configuration.

The preset password is ”admin”.On pressing the “Set” button the RCU 20 will restart,after which the new settings will be activated.

The new settings can be tested by opening a browserand entering the set IP address. If DHCP is activated,a new search can be made with the program to seewhich IP address has been assigned to the RCU 20.

NOTE! Only set DHCP to “On”

if a DHCP server is available on the network.

NOTE! If the password is forgotten, there is

no way to retrieve it. The RCU 10must be returned to NIBE where a

complete reset will take place.All the settings that have been made,

including user settings, will disappear.

NOTE! The password is case-sensitive, i. e.

the precise password must be enteredin respect of upper and loser case

characters.

NOTE! Only A-Z, a-z and 0-9 are permitted tobe used in the user ID and password,the symbol characters cannot be used.

Start the browser (such as Internet Explorer) andenter the selected IP address in the RCU 20. If the IP address is chosen for example to be 10.2.15.21,then ”http://10.2.15.21” is entered into the browseraddress field, followed by pressing the Enter button.The following or a similar image will be displayed:

To access the product’s internal web page for the firsttime, enter “admin” into both entry fields. The pass-word will be changed later, and new users can beadded (refer to the ”Web interface – Settings” >”Users” section).

If there is a problem logging in, check that ”Caps Lock”is not activated for the keyboard.

The web pages are optimised for Internet Explorer 6.0and Mozilla Firefox. Other browsers may also work,but the pages may appear different.The browser must support Java.If Java is not supported, the component may bedownloaded athttp://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

The actual displayed images may differ somewhat,depending on the currently installed configuration.The RCU 20 has two menus, a top menu and a sidemenu. The top menu provides navigation to differentareas of the NIBE web site (requires Internet connec-tion) and resetting of the RCU 20 to another language(requires administrative or writing authority).

The side menu provides navigation in the RCU 20’sinternal web pages. The side menu has differencesdepending on which product is used together with theRCU 20.

In “Settings” – “Log” are entered the desired paramet-ers, logging interval and type of log-in.The selected parameters and logging interval affectthe total log time. With several selected parametersand a a more frequent logging interval, the RCU 20memory fills up more quickly and the total log time isreduced.The logging interval defines at which intervals thelogged values shall be saved. Selectable intervals areevery 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30 and60 minutes.The logging type can be selected from 3 differentmodes: No logging, Stop logging when the log is full orCircular logging (the oldest measured value is erasedand replaced by new when the log is full).The buttons at the bottom can be used tomark/unmark all the measured values and saveselected settings.

The log settings menu has differences depending onwhich product is used.The following illustration is from the FIGHTER 1320.Here the logged values are put on different pages,that are selected from the scrolling list. The FIGHTER1120/1220 also has its logged values placed on differ-ent pages. Otherwise, the logging settings for the dif-ferent products operate in the same way.

NOTE! The settings must be saved for

activation to take place.

To change the language used in the RCU 20, click onthe flag for the desired language in the top menu, orselect ”Settings” – “Choose language” and then clickon the desired language. To activate the selected lan-guage, click on ”Save”.

In “Settings” – ”Miscellaneous” – “Module” informationconcerning where the module is installed can beentered. The informationen in the “Building” display isthen used when the RCU 20 sends an alarm via E-mail or as a text message.The RCU 20 can be restarted remotely by clicking on“Restart”.

Here the settings for handling E-mail can be made.This is necessary for enabling the RCU 20 to sendalarms via E-mail to selected users.

Here the basic settings for network connection can bemade. These are the same settings that can be madewith the aid of the RCU 20 configuration program.

firewall that will allow the reception ofincoming web traffic (port 80).

Here takes place handling of users who shall have theright to log in to the RCU 20. Click on “Add” to add anew user. Existing user information can be edited byclicking on the names.

■ User ID: This ID is used when logging on to theRCU 20 via a browser.

■ Name: User’s name.■ E-mail: The user’s E-mail address to which alarms

are to be sent.■ Alarm receiver: Here is defined which types of

alarm the user is to receive. Several boxes can bemarked.- Prio 1: All alarms except those below.- Prio 2: Low priority alarms.- Digital inputs: Alarms from digital inputs.- Heat pump status changed: Alarm warning that

the status of the heat pump has changed. ■ User level:

- Read: The user may only look at the web site andcannot change anything.

- Write: The user may look at the web site andchange parameters on the operations pages.

- Admin: The user may look at the web site andhas full authority to change configuration andparameters.

■ Password: This password is used when logging onto the RCU 20 via a browser. The password is tobe repeated for verification.

What do you have to think about to get to the website from the Internet?In most cases where on has a fixed connection to theInternet there is some kind of firewall to protect the net-work. To access a unit inside a firewall, it must be con-figured to let desired traffic through. To gain access tothe web site in the RCU 20 from the Internet, port 80(HTTP/web) must open in the firewall and be guided tothe RCU unit on the inside.

How do I connect an RCU with a cable directly to acomputer, without connecting it to a network?Ethernet networks can have two types of cable: straight-through or crossover. A straight-through cable is usedbetween the computer <-> network equipment. Acrossover cable is used between a computer <-> anoth-er computer or for network equipment <-> networkequipment. The RCU 20 is counted as a computer andshall therefore have a crossover cable if it is connecteddirectly to another computer.

Can the RCU 20 become infected with a virus?No. Viruses are generally always written to infect com-puters that run Microsoft Windows, or occasionallyLinux. A virus is written for a particular operating systemor processor and can only infect the type of platform forwhich it is written. An RCU 20 does not have the sametype of processor as an everyday computer, nor can ittherefore become infected.

What does ”JAVA support in a browser” mean?To be able to run a program written in JAVA on a com-puter, it must have a JVM (Java Virtual Machine)installed. A JAVA applet on a web site requires that thebrowser can use this JVM to be able to run the applet.Most current browsers can manage this but there is notalways a JVM installed in the computer. In these casesa JVM must be downloaded and installed for everythingto work. JVMs for many different operating systems canbe downloaded from: www.java.com.

Two log-in windows are displayed, why?Unfortunately web browsers are often not perfectly inte-grated with the JVM that is installed in the computer. Inpractice the JVM (that runs the JAVA applets) does notunderstand that the browser has already put up a log-inwindow, and therefore puts up another one when aJAVA applet is to be run, for safety’s sake. This willhopefully be solved in future versions of browsers andJVMs.

What does ”Network mask” mean?An IP address is composed of 32 bits and the networkmask defines how many bits are used for the networkaddress. The remaining bits identify the computer onthe network. The net mask looks the same as an IPaddress, e.g. 255.255.0.0 or 255.255.255.0.

What is a ”default Gateway”?So that computers that are on separate networks (differ-ent sub-networks) are able to communicate with eachother, routers are needed between the networks to“bridge” the traffic. Default gateway is the name of therouter that is to be used to reach the computers that arenot on the local network. This router then sends theinformation on to the destination or the nearest routerthat it knows about.

Which browsers work together with an RCU?The web pages are optimised for Internet Explorer andMozilla Firefox. Other browsers should work well, butthe pages may look different.

What is the format of the log files?The log files in the RCU are of CSV type. This is a usualformat for log files and is supported by such programsas Microsoft Excel.
