Install BlueSky StatisticsAaron Rangel
4 Simple Steps
1. Install R (Not required if R is already installed)
2. Install BlueSky Statistics
3. Initiate the trial or license the product
4. Install the required packages for the BlueSkyapplication
• Part A: I installed R 3.2.1 in step 1 above
• Part B: R was already installed (Needs R 3.0.2 and above, older versions should work but not tested)
Note: BlueSky Statistics is currently available on Windows 64 bit, for 32 bit Windows or MAC or Linux support please email [email protected]
Step1: Install R• Not required if you
have already installed R

Installing R (not required if you have installed R previously)
• R 3.2.1 for windows can be downloaded from CRAN at http://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/CRAN/
• For your convenience the R installer for version 3.2.1 is available in the root folder of the BlueSky trial software download zip file
• Run the R-3.2.1-win executable
• Click through the screens with the following options

Following screen will be displayed only if you are not an admin, click next, in a following screen the setup will
prompt you with a location with write permission

If you are running a 64 bit processor you don’t need the 32 bit files

Accept the defaults

Make sure Save version number in the registry is selected

Finally click finish

Step 2: Install BlueSky Statistics
Install BlueSky Statistics
• BlueSky Statistics requires – R 3.0.2 and above (older versions should work but not tested)
– .NET version 4.0 and above
• Double click on the BlueSky Windows Installer package
• The prompts and very straight forward and you can accept the defaults
• Click Finish and the install will complete

Step3: Initiate the trial or license the product
Launch the BlueSky Statistics application
• The folder BlueSky will be found in the start menu or desktop icons
• Launch the BlueSky Statistics application
• The default path to the executable is– C:\Users\<user
name>\Documents\BlueSky\BlueSkyStatistics\BlueSky.exe

The message above gets displayed because required packages are not installed. Click OK. We will install required packages in Step 4
You will then see the screen below, click OK to start the 30 day trial

Install required packages
• All the required packages are in the folder where you installed BlueSky Statistics on your local hard drive– BlueSky Statistics\R Installers\R 3.2.1 packages
folder
• Launch BlueSky Statistics
• Go to Tools->Install packages from a folder
• Browse to path to …BlueSky Statistics\R Packages\R 3.2.1 packages folder

Browse to path to …BlueSky Statistics\R Packages\R 3.2.1 packages folder and click OK
You will see a busy screen as all the packages are installed.
THIS WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF MINUTES.
A report of the packages installed and loaded are displayed in the output
• If you see the text error, email [email protected] and copy all the text in the report (click within report to select text)
• If the message says could not install package as its already installed, that is fine

If no errors are reported, congratulations you are ready to start using BlueSky Statistics, go to slide 29

BlueSky Statistics requires the following packages

6. ggthemes Themes for the above graphs

•Base and stats are typically available with the default R installation and hence you should not have to install them

Make a list of the packages you need
• Run the R function below from the BlueSky Statistics Window– rownames(installed.packages())
• This command will list all the packages available with your R install
• Compare with slides 24, 25 to find the packages that need to be installed
