INSIDHERLAND is a Portuguese brand created by Architect Joana Santos Barbosa in 2012 dedicated to

design, production and sale of exclusive furniture. Drawn with the personal signature of the creator, the

pieces of elegant and surprising design result from the embrace between the perfection of high technology

and the expertise of traditional craft techniques of extreme value. Art creations that take shape in the

hands of Portuguese master craftsmen and jewelers who wisely sculpt them in noble materials, finalizing

every detail with elegance and perfection.

explore. The Essence of the brand is closely linked to its creator and results from the compatibility between

real and imaginary, past and future, local and universal, functional and art. We return to our roots, to the

comfort and harmony, to the serenity and naturalness of things because we believe that the symbolic

essence of art results from devotion to the senses as well as the appreciation of figurative experience.

JOANA SANTOS BARBOSA

Born in Oporto, Joana Santos Barbosa graduates in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the

University of Oporto in 2006, later deepening her knowledge in Interior Design at St. Martin's School of Arts

and Design in London. Alongside with Architecture, the passion for the Detail motivates her to create her

own exclusive furniture design.

From her training she takes the discipline and persistence in the pursuit of the unquestionable accuracy.

From the World she seizes cultures and contexts, dissects memories and rearranges concepts, taking them

as starting points for the creative liberation which questions the immediate nature of the perception of

reality.

Having a refined intuition and a particular way of feeling, Joana Santos Barbosa has a vein of attachment to

the Land, a connection to the emotional and a devotion to the senses and is very early deeply influenced by

the mysteries of the natural world, taking an interest in legends and organic forms and by many trips that

opened her eyes to inspiring cultures and traditions.

Result of various influences, Joana develops a personal determination in analyzing the world around her

own growth process and for that she creates characters, places and experiences that are often on the

border between lived experience and fluent imagination.

She is fascinated by the limits of emotions and the threshold of feeling. Her creative perseverance and

curiosity for experimentation proves to be somewhere between the sinuous elegance and the harsh

aggressiveness, the softness of a touch and the strictness of a line, the organic forms of nature and the

geometric accuracy, a smooth trace of a sketch and the precision of a detailed drawing.

Designed to stand out in exquisite spaces, the creations of Beyond Memory Collection evoke emotional

relations with the natural world, telling stories that give shape to memories that surprise a demanding

public which seeks exclusivity, innovation and elegance.

Each piece is made by craftsmen, using handcrafted techniques, whereby small differences between pieces

of the same model may occur which makes them particularly unique and exclusive.

When we look at reality through memory we create connections, eliminate

the unnecessary and add details that we wish to be true. Through the creative

eye of Joana Santos Barbosa, Beyond Memory Collection opens the gates of a

Land almost as real as imaginary and each creation reveals a personality trait

of its creator taking us to places where “A tale never loses in the telling”.

Homeland represents the values of the place where we are born; an autumnal place of an inner light with

a serene and protector spirit. Recreating the image of an ancient cottage, with irregular whitewashed walls,

Homeland is a piece that results from a thorough handmade work and each piece turns out to be unique,

endowed by unrepeatable details.

Compact in appearance, with a demanding design and a refined woodwork, this piece seems to be an

impenetrable "wall". However, it reveals to be a surprising sideboard that responds to the various support

functions to a dining room.

WHITE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR | Whitewashed walls

Integrally covered by hand by a plasterer, the outer irregular white matt finish is a result of a special

treatment that surprises by the high quality of his satiny touch. The interior of the two side doors has the

same finishing, includes four shelves and the upper level conceals two drawers lined with white velvet, one

of them a cutlery drawer.

CENTRAL DOORS AND INTERIOR | The "heart" of the Home

Designed to represent the heart of a home of a happy family, the design of the central perforated

doors involved by a minimal frame with a minimal doorway presents a radical approach.

Apparently suspended, the two drilled doors are light and loose. This effect was achieved by INSIDHERLAND

through the creation of small pivot hinges .

The two pivoting doors, the frame and the handle are covered with a specially paint developed for this

piece of furniture, finished with a half gloss varnish. The handle is engraved by INSIDHERLAND.

The interior of the central space is symbolizing the warmth of affection in the splendor of a home. In this

space, an intense gold lights the painting in earth tones with a high gloss varnish finish.

When we open the doors, the interior “light” reflects feelings and emotions. The doors in parallel

blades allow the full visualization of the interior, in which each of the shelves is bevelled, regulating all

thicknesses, without any constructive element disturbing the global space.

We all seek a path to go through, a place to discover. That personal goal to reach… But sometimes we need to look back and return to the place that shows us what we’re made of… A safe place behind closed doors. A place called… Homeland

Following the footprints in the sand of a deserted beach, an intense glow anchored between rocks is an

object of desire and admiration, triggering a leading path to an exceptional creation. Between Waves is a

sofa that celebrates the simplicity of the natural world and the pleasure of an unapproachable luxury.

Raised as a trophy by four hand-carved whelks covered with gold leaf, Between Waves values the concept

of protection as a shell that keeps inside a delicate and undefended being. As sand streaked by the retreat

of waves of foam, this protective surrounding shell is ribbed in a shade of sand lacquered half brightness.

The angular hardness of the rocks is mirrored in the geometry of the broken volumetry and each particular

point of the carved edges performed with skill. As in nature, each joint is appreciated for its irregularity.

By stealing the soft touch of perfectly polished pebbles from reality, the loose cushions in cotton velvet in

oceans tones contrast with the exquisite interior covered with gold leaf. A construction

detail causes a subtle wave of the side cushions, again bringing to mind the undulating motion of the sea.

Between Waves involves us in a delicate luxury experience. Snuggled between forms of loose rocks, perfect

pebbles and the ocean tones reflected in a shimmering golden glow, we let ourselves involve in a delicate

melody sung by a whelk anchored in the soft sunburned sand.

I found a golden whelk anchored in the gentle slope of sunburned sand. Snuggled in the loose rocks scattered along the deserted beach, Between Waves of foam trying to embrace it in an inglorious dance, the proud whelk seemed to refuse to return to sea. I wished for that comfort. A luxury experience offered by nature. Forever... Anywhere.

surprise."

Four... for Luck is a special clover with a creative process based on the interpretation of the Legend of the 4

leaf clover, in which each petal represents a meaning. The concept of total independence was explored so

that the four constituent parts of the whole - Hope, Faith, Love and Luck - can play a free specific role

whenever necessary.

Slender and projected in the air, each petal finished in listed rosewood veneer is like a real leaf in which the

organic thin stem rises dividing it into two parts. This detail of separation that creates the continuity

between petal and stem is emphasized in polished brass.

The excellence of materials and finishes combined with the accuracy of the small details makes this center

table a true refined and elegant furniture piece.

A Legend gains strength through belief and each legend is contested by disbelief. Winston Churchill said "I

don’t believe in luck, I believe in attention to detail." Stories, legends and memories take shape over time.

We don’t know the true power of this legend but just in case Joana Santos Barbosa created Four... for Luck,

through the attention to detail.

According to an old Legend, each leaf of a clover had a meaning: Hope, Faith and Love. It was believed that whoever found a 4 leaf clover would have the Luck represented by the fourth leaf with the gift to absorb the magical powers of the forest and the Luck of the gods. The number of leaves represents a complete cycle, as well as the 4 seasons, the four phases of the moon and the 4 elements of nature: water, air, earth and fire. Being rare of finding, the meaning of this 4 leaf clover became a symbol of prosperity and the mystique of this Lucky charm continues until today... Do you believe in Four... For Luck?

"In my garden grows a thick blanket of clovers. Their different sizes draw freeform shapes that in a

provocative tone evoke my imagination... What if through my fingers I would raise them in the air?

An elegant console would emerge. The top would draw those combinations of different sizes and their

slender stems would freely meet and form the organic base that nature intended."


Continuing the interpretation of the Legend of the four leaf clover materialized in the Four... for Luck

center table, this console with the same name explores the meaning of Luck in these peculiar plants.

On the top made with exquisite rosewood marquetry work, it is drawn an intentional chaos under which

each four leaf clover is only revealed only with a careful look. The clovers seem to strive for a major role,

overlapping imaginarily on a common plan. Purposely, none clover stands out and we find the beauty in this

organic and anonymous set.

Starting with the elegance of these plants removed from the land, their original proportion is emphasized

with total freedom. The long stems in polished brass acquire enormous proportions that appear to invent a

wavy dance that unites them, making them stronger parts of a whole.

Unlike the lack of four-leaf clovers, this delicate console offers the viewer the experience of a reflection on

the power of the meaning of the fourth leaf which is so abundant here. If one day we found a garden

populated by such mystical amulets, the power of the fourth leaf would never again be a prize offered by

chance and Luck would become an element of personal achievement obtained through the watchful eye of

each one of us.

The Special Tree is a tree in which two lovers write the promise of an everlasting love; a small tree on the

bank of a lake that stands out as the center of a geometrized composition. Five ‘treetops’ on top of 'trunks'

in polished copper, form an imposing grove with the splendor of autumn colors in a mysterious creation

where a high gloss finish makes us foresee its own reflection on the water’s surface.

As in the autumnal palette, each one of the 'trees' of this creation has its appearance and its color,

dialoguing with one another in a smooth degrade that celebrates the harmony of the season. The

craftsmanship on exotic roots and leaves emphasizes the rich tonal variations and creates ripples that

remind us of the wind flow among the branches causing the swirl fall of dry leaves on the water.

In a jewelry work, the organic base in polished copper that appears to be a piece of damp earth near the

lake, is chiseled with five types of fallen leaves of each one of the species, a work that is repeated in the

carved recording of the creation’s name in the ‘trunk’ of The Special Tree.

Inside the volumes, the tone of warm beams of sunlight piercing through the trees is captured in the high

gloss satinwood finish punctuated by glass shelves. Inside of The Special Tree, small wavy copper 'branches'

were designed to appear to be levitating while lifting the shelves.

My Darling, Do you remember when we promised each other that we would eternalize our love? I remember as it was today… We ran into the forest looking for a tree where we could engrave our names and our hearts. Holding hands, we walked around a lake until we sighted a splendid five trees grove where a small tree stood out. When that tree finally found us, we felt that was the elected one. ‘The Special Tree’ sideboard is a redesign of the original cabinet with the same name. Featuring the

Summer season, three types of exotic roots in their natural color in high gloss finish cover this empowering

creation while the interior remains in satinwood. The base and the tree trunks are in oxidized brushed brass

and, in the center, the most special tree preserves the subtle carved jewelry work with the name of the

creation as well as small wavy brass 'branches' lifting the interior glass shelf.

The wind passage among the branches of five trees by a lake caused the spinning fall of five leaves of

different shapes. Fallen Leaves were removed from the water still dotted with small drops like real mirrors

eager to reflect the eyes of two young lovers and to tell a paragraph of their love story.

The natural aging revealed by the broken tips of these leaves is created by the hand carved structure with

the wisdom of master craftsmen, whose hands give life to the details of the natural drawings, and where

the gradients in warm tones of gold and copper leaf finish in high gloss varnish extol the reflection of water

between brushstrokes coming from the spectacular palette of autumnal colors.

Nothing ends. Even at the end of life, leaves with beautiful burned and aged edges by the passing of the

seasons, are a paradox with more vivid colors than ever, revealing memories that inspire the creation of

pieces where that fleeting image will remain intact as if we were allowed to stop the time.

Bringing these pieces from the richest season of the year to the comfort of the interior, the orientation of

the five mirrors is free as if we photographed the leaves in free fall, creating many combinations

possibilities.

My Love, I will never forget that day when as we walked away from The Special Tree we looked in each other’s eyes and sharing our thoughts without saying a single word, we returned to the shore of that lake. We observed the leaves that fell from the trees like wind on the water and chose the ones that landed seeming to bathe and reflect our passionate faces. From that lake we withdrew five Fallen Leaves of different shapes as symbols taken from trees that would testify our everlasting love.

Inspired by the trees that in autumn hold their foliage with difficulty, Tree Branches transmits the

nakedness of the season, establishing a balance between the structure organization and the free will of the

other elements through the minimal contact between the parts.

Entirely handcrafted using traditional techniques like marquetry and hammered metal, Tree Branches is an

extremely elegant side table. Three vertical 'branches' in hammered brass are elevated by three identical

diagonals 'branches' that contact with the ground, creating the illusion that the vertical 'branches' are

keystones to balance the slender structure.

The creator devoted herself so carefully to the connection between the elements as to the emptiness

between them, drawing an incomplete crown of leaves that allows a better view of small leaves distributed

by several minor branches, still resistant to the passage of the season.

All leaves are exquisitely executed in wood with bevelled finish in rosewood, ebony and olive tree veneer in

half gloss varnish, covered by a glass top which reinforces the thin image of the set.

A few years later we returned to the forest lake where the autumnal colors palette brushed bright colors in a landscape that seemed not to have aged. The mirror ‘Tree Branches’ adds the missing piece to the wreath of leaves left incomplete in the side table

with the same name. The handmade traditional art of marquetry is the queen of the set by putting together

three different tones and shapes of burned rosewood, ebony and olive tree in half gloss finish that perfectly

imitate the dry touch of autumnal leaves. The beveled details allow each leave to detach from the wall, in a

seemingly disorganized set that honors the splendor of the season.

The Tree Branches wall lamp handcrafted in hammered patinated brass is a conceptual approach, designed

to recreate the sunbeams that pierce the density of forests. The clean lines of this stylish piece have the

same technique of the original side table, using a more detailed approximation as if we were closely looking

to a single branch that hides us from the sunlight while we stand in its shadow. Therefore, the light only

appears on a secondary plan, brightening the wall around it.

From The Special Tree, Fallen Leaves on the water reflected the faces of two lovers as mirrors, while others

fighters still remained in some Tree Branches. Completing that scenario, a few leaves were on the center of

the lake stretched over Three Rocks of different sizes, sparkling by water that ran on them.

The robust volumes, with their shapes irregularly cut, are finished in smoky brown birds eye veneer in high

gloss varnish. The small dotted nodules of this veneer resembling the texture of a true rock and the high

gloss finish to the lake water, making of these three tables almost an exact picture of the idyllic and

passionate vision of that lake in autumn.

Fallen freely on each of the three tables, we find small leaves embedded by the hands of a craftsman with

the art of marquetry. The work is performed entirely by hand with wisdom and perfection so the observer

loses himself in this story in which nature and love don’t have barriers and celebrate the marriage between

reality and fiction.

Three Rocks that I dedicate to my parents as symbols of what they mean to me.

Rock is a stool with the same form of the smaller table of the Three Rocks set. The irregular shapes of the

side table were originally created to allow that a unique design could have two different functionalities

depending on the chosen finish. The handcrafted upholstery work involves this unusual creation in a soft

velvet touch that turns the sharp edges into smooth transitions.

"The energy of children sitting in a circle caught my attention. The image of Osani circle game immediately

drew a creation in my mind that aims to be an ode to respect for human life and the wisdom of ancient

traditions."


The Osani Circle photograph was taken by Belgian anthropologist Jean-Pierre Hallet in the 1960s (All Rights

Reserved: see below); Hallet lived many years with the Efé and loved their community traditions. He was

nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize while working to ensure their survival.

In 2013, the human circle inspires Joana Santos Barbosa to create a round mirror that represents the spirit

of mutual help in this tribe, thought to be one of the oldest on earth.

The ebony veneer captures the effect of the childrens’ outstretched legs around the center, and the aged

gold leaf brings to mind the soles of their feet and their sun-bleached heads.

The circle is the perfect form in which no side stands out. Like every child, every part of this mirror becomes

essential to its balance where the flow of energy around center is identical and of equal value; without

beginning or end.

The Osani game is played by Efé children of the Ituri tropical forest in the Republic of Congo. Sitting in a circle with feet touching in the center, each child in turn names a round object like the sun (oi), the moon (tiba), a star (bibi) an eye (ue) and then goes on to name a figurative expression of “round”, like the circle of the family, togetherness, a baby in the womb or the cycle of the moon. As players fail to come up with a term that is “circular” they are eliminated from the game. In the end, only one will remain and tradition says this player will live a long and prosperous life.

Mother Nature carved a paradise called Na Pali located on Kaua'i, an island remnant from the force of a

volcano with five million years with its profile drawn by rain and the blasts of winter waves against the

basalt cliffs. Spectacular, imposing and lush, Na Pali that means "the cliffs", is a breathtaking landscape.

With a strong presence, the handmade Na Pali chair portrays in detail the mystique of this dramatic

backdrop of verdant valleys, striated walls and sharp ridges. The image of this fortress coast is captured by

wooden sides extending as cliffs from the bottom to the top and the front feet get the form of the

numerous sculpted needles across the landscape.

Na Pali is a piece that challenges the viewer to discover its sharp cuts and grooves extending continuously

around, made by a handcrafted work in velvet which combines the variations of the vast range of Na Pali

Coast colors resulting from the change of direction of the rays of the sun, the movement of clouds and the

ocean color.

The comfort of the armchair Na Pali is deeply connected with the features of striated mountains, sharp

ridges, deep valleys and furrows dug by dizzying tropical waterfalls, so that humans may sit like gods on the

towering cliffs.

With giant cliffs over the Pacific as huge stone sharp needles stretching in height and plunging into the ocean between mystical sea caves and scalloped beaches, Na Pali Coast is a place almost inaccessible, surrounded by many inspiring legends. Hawaiian legend tells that Pele, goddess of fire, went to Na Pali in search of a home but her sister and rival, Namakaokaha'i, goddess of the sea, drove her away in a violent confrontation whose marks remained visible forever. Protected between Na Pali ribbed walls is Honopū valley that seems to form a seat on the mountain, in which the gods can sit back and admire the constant battles between the natural World.

Numerous sculpted needles extend across the towering cliffs of the breathtaking Na Pali Coast. The ‘Na Pali’

tables recreate the seamless parallel throughout the slope, as if each needle had been highlighted from the

remaining weight of the surrounding mountainous. The connection between the pieces of wood structure

finished in walnut veneer in half gloss varnish appears reduced in oxidized brushed brass and the glass tops

take the central faceted shape, allowing the observation of each individual blade between the empty spaces.

Inspiring Trees is the essence of a personal fascination. Slender, geometric and seemingly minimal, is a

lighting piece fully executed in brass which carries form, image and meaning and wants to pass a message

of equality among the numerous species of trees without highlighting any particular example or feature.

In the 'treetop', the detailed hammered handcrafted work for visual transformation of the material,

captures the richness of light and shadows present in any real tree, leaving a serene brightness take care of

its trunk and base.

The light is distributed by the three levels of the 'treetop' and diffuses, controlled by the geometry of

several overlapping pieces, lighting the surrounding space in an unexpectedly way; almost ethereal.

I've always been fascinated by trees. Big trees, exotic trees, bare trees, colored trees or just common green trees. For me, there is nothing in this amazing World that can be compared to the fresh smell out of a thousand shadows dancing in the wind while the sun bathes them with the miracle of life. Many years after visited the heart of Sweden, Joana Santos Barbosa creates ‘Into the Woods’ bookcase to

celebrate the charm of Nordic nature and the mysterious journey that led up to one of the most

memorable places she has ever met.

´Into the Woods’ is a bookcase that carries the feeling of a long walk through the forest beneath

intertwined branches of huge trees with the goal of reaching the top of a mountain.

The enchanting path is captured by the angular shape of the bookcase in which four vertical elements in

walnut obtain a slight slope that emphasizes the perspective of the lengthy tree trunks along the way. Using

the same method, the height of each element is also highlighted by the tapered end, as if we were looking

to the slender trees reaching the sky.

In a gentle embrace, each vertical element extends an arm of stylized blades in oxidized brushed brass

designed to freely touch the remaining tree trunks and create four shelves repeated in different directions.

Above each shelf, the glass top holds up in the interior space so that the vertical elements may be admired

as monumental tree trunks.

Each organic element of the bookcase was designed to create a variety of shadows that move according to

the lights of the surrounding space. It’s the richness of the woods glimpsed by the most dazzling creation.

When I was 17, I visited Sweden where I met Gudrun. One day, she told me she would show me the most unforgettable view on the top of a mountain and so I followed her in silence. The winter nature led us on a path beneath the intertwined branches of lengthy tree trunks aligned in perspective and to reach the top of the mountain we walked Into The Woods…

After creating the bookcase Into the Woods to represent a long walk through the Swedish woods towards

the top a mountain, Joana Santos Barbosa conceived the mirror Tuna Kvarn to show what she saw while

reaching the top.

The irregular forms of the frozen lake, created by a simple mirror, are as faithful to reality as the distant

memory allowed. The complexity of thick grove around the lake collects 88 pieces in cast brass, each one

presented as a single tree, in a handcrafted detailed process of adaptation and connection between the

pieces. To complete the intention, the aged effect adds the finishing touch to the contrast between the

shadows and the lit treetops seen from above.

The rectangular shape of the mirror frame allows the viewer to look at the landscape directly from the

camera's viewfinder to recover the exact moment that Joana didn’t get the chance to photograph.

“At the age of 17, being able to breathe the heart of Sweden surrounded by mysterious woods and frozen

lakes was truly powerful. I could never thank enough to Gudrun Lodin for sharing with me Tuna Kvarn. That

lake has not changed me but made me realize who I really was.”


What I saw, when Gudrun and I reached the highest point of the mountain, took my breath away. Looking around, and still not believing in that huge frozen lake embraced by a thick grove, I picked up my old camera and realized that the last photo of the roll had already been taken. The sadness came over me. - Joana, observe and let your heart capture everything. Then, close your eyes and try to see the landscape through your memory. I am sure that you will treasure this moment forever - Gudrun said. At that moment, I learned an important lesson. I let the cold wind froze my eyes wide open while I gathered all the details of the lake I was seeing from above. Gudrun named it Tuna Kvarn and this is what I remember…

“Western is a captivating armchair that rescues the image of my favorite old cowboy hat standing in a

saddle rack while waiting to go on a horse ride.”


The unquestionable form of Western armchair suddenly appeared in the mind of the creator and the

creative process had to be focused on absorbing the most dominant features of the cowboy hat and the

saddle rack to transform that simple, yet challenging, image into a functional Piece of Art.

The essential was highlighted after adjusting the proportions between memory and creative presence. The

top of the armchair performs the concave hat with rounded tabs and the band around it turns into a

comfortable cushion. The base in walnut approaches the structure and color of the saddle rack.

Western armchair allows us to seat and take our time to think in how simple or complex our mind can be,

depending on the interpretations that we choose to make. We are not defined by the world around us, but

by what we do with what we are given.

Western sofa is similar to the original design of the Western armchair that rescues the image of a cowboy

hat standing in a saddle rack. The top performs the concave hat with rounded tabs and the band around it

The cabinet Navajo Canyon reinvents the glorious majesty of Arizona cliffs with their twists and turns along

the Colorado River. With the identical proportions and tones of the rock formations sedimented over

thousands of years, this cabinet is built through a complex process finished in full height walnut veneer and

its base in white sycamore.

By accentuating the long exterior lines without any visible opening, the apparently solid volume resembles

the stone walls so we can travel a long journey through the serpentine cliffs.

On the walnut interior, two glass shelves go unnoticed while the turquoise silhouette of the Colorado River

suddenly appears between four drawers. Taking advantage of the natural curves, each drawer opens,

unveiling its interior totally lacquered in the same hue which gives us the feeling of jumping in freefall from

the top of the cliff to dive in the crystal clear waters of the river.

Diné Bikeyah or Navajoland is located in the United States of America within the boundary of four sacred mountains, Mt. Blanca to the east, Mt. Taylor to the south, San Francisco Peak to the west and Mt Hesperus to the north near Durango, Colorado. The Navajo natives, the Diné believe that these mountains were created by the Holy People who taught them how to live in harmony with Mother Earth, Father Sky and all other elements of nature such as man, animals and plants. In this impressive territory with dozen national monuments that cross Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, we find Navajo Canyon, a magnificent cliff formation. The sandstone canyon high waved walls in brownish red and white tones contrasting with Lake Powell’s blue waters perform an impressive sight.

Located in the sunny California on the south-west of the United States of America, the charming Figueroa

Mountain is a magical landscape that led to the creation of the Figueroa armchair. The long curves of this

mountain were taken to the armchair’s exterior and the mountainside ripples, that seem to have been dug

by large fingers coming from the sky, were placed on the inside.

The top of the armchair features the great bow of the skyline and the yellow tone of the ground is replaced

by the base in brushed brass. Both soft velvet and brass are reunited in the soft curves that go all around

this compact creation. Just like the mountain meets the land.

Young photographer Logan Deats lives in California where he captures outstanding views

Knowing Figueroa Mountain for so many years, I’ve always admired it as an invaluable painting that’s too superb to be confined in a Museum. Instead, the immeasurable curved forms rise freely above the ground, allowing me to absorb fragments of its beauty and transform them into one of my special creations.

Alentejo side table is a glimpse over the South of Portugal where thousands of cork oaks trees raise their

canopies to the sky. Overlapped on branches opened in obtuse angles, the canopies are separated from

their support bases, being gracefully balanced above the ground. These typical trees seem like tables

spread across the horizon.

Choosing one of the four tops available, we approach the different seasons: Spring in a dark green

lacquered, Summer in a sunburned tone of walnut marquetry, Autumn in an empty space of acrylic and

Winter in the white hues of Estremoz marble.

The slender base in cast brass with patinated effect results of a careful sculpted work that highlights the

natural details. Each root lightly touches the ground taking its own direction as shadows that vanish into the

landscape.

Since I can remember, I think of Alentejo as the most peaceful place in my Country. On the rolling plains of this land, thousands of cork oak trees open their branches to the sky and, in a powerful reunion, conceive an impressive scenario where time seems to stop.
