ANNOUNCERMr Jim Callinan

BIOSECURITY NOTICEAll cattle, sheep and goats exhibited at shows must be recorded in the NLIS database. This ensures exhibitors and shows comply with the Stock Diseases Regulation 2009 and that animals which have been to a show or sporting event are traceable.

Shows are a biosecurity risk because animals from different properties come together and then disperse again. It is in everyone’s interests that show committees and exhibitors ensure livestock movements are recorded.

The new Biosecurity (NLIS) Regulation will come into effect by June 2017 and will require that show organisers record livestock attendance at shows. This is an increase in responsibility for show committees. All cattle, sheep and goats have to be identified with an NLIS tag (except for dairy goats) and must be accompanied by an NVD or a Transported Stock Statement.

SECTION A – HORSESSPECIAL BY-LAWS

1. Unshod Horses, Galloways and Ponies will be allowed to compete in all classes without penalty.2. The Committee reserves the right to substitute a Judge where it is deemed necessary. If a Judge

shall consider that any exhibit does not possess sufficient merit to deserve a prize, no prize shall be awarded.

3. A novice is a horse that has never won a hack class at an Agricultural Show.4. An intermediate is a horse that has never placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a hack or show hunter class at

a Royal Show.5. Competitors and their attendants holding horses and officials of the Show only, will be allowed to

enter the ring enclosure.6. All exhibits not ready to be judged at time arranged will be disqualified, even though the event,

from any cause, is not held in the order shown in the official timetable.7. Every endeavour will be made to avoid judging of two classes concurrently, in which one exhibitor

may be interested. The Association, however, cannot accept any responsibility if the judging time happens to conflict with one or more classes or events.

8. DISTRICT Classes are restricted to horses owned and stabled by persons who live within the boundaries of the Merriwa District as defined by the Map near the inside back cover of the Schedule, or who belong to the Merriwa Pony Club. (Any person or horse that competes in a district class at another show is not eligible to compete in these district events).

9. Children who compete in Led-in classes may not compete in non-led classes and vice versa.10. All horses in all recognised breed classes must be registered and owners must be financial

members of the appropriate breed Association. Proof of registration and current financial membership may be asked for and MUST be produced upon request.

11. The following events are carried out under the control of the Council, whose decision in all cases shall be final. The Council reserves the right to eliminate any event or refuse any entry. All fees must be paid before any competitor is allowed to start. It is understood that each competitor competes entirely at his or her own risk.

12. Stallions are excluded from Open Hack, Open Hunter & Riding Classes (unless stated otherwise).13. Any exhibitors intending to bring electrical equipment to the Showground will be required to

ensure that such equipment is fitted with earth leakage circuit breakers and that all electrical leads, tools and appliances have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor. This is essential for the safety of yourself, your fellow exhibitors and the general public and is a requirement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1983. The Act imposes very severe penalties in the event of non-compliance with its provisions. Any exhibitors who do not comply will not be allowed to exhibit at the Showground. PLEASE CHECK ALL YOUR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND LEADS BEFORE YOU COME TO THE SHOWGROUND TO AVOID THE OCCURRENCE OF ANY DIFFICULTIES.

14. Drug testing may be carried out at this show. Any competitor found to be in contravention to the ASC Disputes & Disciplinary Regulations will be investigated by the ASC Disciplinary Committee.

15. Agriculture Societies Council Indemnity and Waiver form to be signed by ALL competitors BEFORE competing.

16. Competitors in ring events PLEASE NOTE that at this show the rings will be run under Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. Rules and Regulations.

17. Protests are to be accompanied by a $50 cash bond, lodged within 30 minutes of the event. Protest committee consists of 3 members of the Horse Section Committee including the Ring Master. Protest to be lodged at the Horse Secretary Office. Bond will be refunded if protest is upheld.

18. All horses in all recognised breed classes must be registered and owners must be financial members of the appropriate breed association. Proof of registration and current financial membership may be asked for and MUST be produced upon request.
