ATHLETIC FUND YOUR MONTHLY RESOURCE FOR SUPPORTING UCLA ATHLETICS AND THE WOODEN ATHLETIC FUND Thank you for your generous support of UCLA Athletics by being a member of the Wooden Athletic Fund and enhancing the experiences of our student-athletes. A tremendous congratulations goes out to Coach Sampras Webster and our UCLA Women’s Tennis program, who brought home UCLA’s 111th National Championship on Tuesday, May 20. It is individuals like you who truly make a difference and nearly 700 student-athletes at UCLA thank you for your continued support. If we can ever be of assistance, please call (310) 206-3302 or email [email protected]. GO BRUINS! BENEFIT OF THE MONTH GIVING OPPORTUNITY MEET A MEMBER OF YOUR UCLA ATHLETICS DEVELOPMENT TEAM INSIDE UCLA ATHLETICS DEVELOPMENT Taylor Swearingen Director of Annual Fund Hometown: Santa Rosa, California College: UCLA, History, 2008 Start Date with UCLA Athletics Development: I started working with UCLA Athletics as a student intern in our Marketing Department in the summer of 2007. That internship gave me a wonderful opportunity to learn about college athletics and as I came to know more about the different facets of the Athletic Department, the Development area sparked my interest as a way to directly connect with the best supporters of the program. After graduating from UCLA in 2008, I moved into a full-time position in the Development Office and over the past six years I have been privileged to work with the Wooden Athletic Fund as both Assistant and Associate Director and play a significant role in UCLA’s fundraising efforts during the Pauley Pavilion Campaign of Champions. I am honored to have recently been promoted to a new position as Director of Annual Fund. In this new role I will be taking an increased leadership role in guiding the efforts of our Wooden Athletic Fund team to increase philanthropic support for UCLA’s student-athletes. I specifically focus on donor communica- tions, benefit fulfillment, new member outreach and major gift stewardship and cultivation. In addition to my work with the Wooden Athletic Fund, I also lead the individual sport fundraising efforts for Women’s Basketball, Men’s Tennis and Women’s Tennis. Favorite UCLA Memory / Experience: Joining the Bruins at the final College World Series game played at Rosenblatt Stadium in 2010. The history and tradition of Rosenblatt Stadium were amazing to behold and the people of Omaha were unbelievably welcoming to us. It was a shame to see the Bruin team led by Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer fall short of their Championship goal, but 2010 was an amazing experience….and the Bruins got back to Omaha to claim the title in 2013! Favorite Professional Sports Team: San Francisco 49ers Favorite Westwood Restaurant: TLT Food Favorite John Wooden Quote: “Little things make big things happen.” Unique Fact About Yourself: I have four names and go by my middle name. My full name is George Taylor Vernon Swearingen, in honor of my grandfathers George Swearingen and Taylor Vernon. Message to Our Donors: It is a true pleasure and honor to work at my alma mater and help donors connect with their passions while supporting such great student-athletes and coaches. I thank each and every one of UCLA’s generous supporters for doing their part to help maintain and enhance UCLA as the finest athletic and academic institution in the world. Go Bruins!!! The following individuals listed below have recently joined the Wooden Athletic Fund and/or Bruin Varsity Club for the first time as part of our 8CLAP for 8K initiative to increase our annual fund from 5,313 to 8,000 donors. We would like to take this opportunity to thank these individuals for truly making a difference in our ability for success. UCLA Athletics’ Centennial Campaign

Leading up to UCLA’s 100th anniversary in 2019, our campus is embarking on The Centennial Campaign for UCLA, a multi-billion campus wide fundraising campaign. During the campaign, UCLA Athletics, with a goal to generate $260 million in contributions by 2019, will make key investments that will enable us to build upon our standing as the premiere intercollegiate athletics program in the nation. With support from our alumni, friends and fans around the world, we will ensure UCLA’s ability to attract top talent and provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to thrive, both in the classroom and in competition.

The UCLA Centennial Campaign is one of the most ambitious campaigns ever attempted in public higher education and our Athletics’ goal to attempt to generate $260 million is one of the largest Athletic specific campaigns ever attempted in Intercollegiate Athletics’ history. The UCLA Athletic Department’s goal for the Campaign is to raise resources for three key areas:

• Operational support

• Endowment support

• Capital support

“To date, UCLA Athletics has raised approximately $116 million of the $260 million goal established by the Centennial Campaign. While this is a number to be proud of for sure, it is simply not in our nature to be content. We will continue to push the boundaries of what is thought possible because at UCLA, we know no other way.” – UCLA Director of Athletics, Dan Guerrero

To carry our momentum forward, we invite you to share our grand finale “Let There Be…” sound and light projection show. This breathtaking spectacle was projected onto one of UCLA’s most iconic venues, Royce Hall. We invite you to share this video with friends and family and inspire them with UCLA's first century of dynamism and global impact and help us set the stage for an exciting future. For more information on the Centennial Campaign or to support UCLA student-athletes, please contact the UCLA Athletics Development Office at 310-206-3302.

The generous Wooden Athletic Fund donors listed below have increased their giving at least one giving level since May 1st and thereby “Become a Champion” for UCLA Athletics. We would like to take this opportunity to thank these individuals for their generous support.
