DAILY CARE in the Foundation 1 room

This year we would like to clarify the daily care procedures to make sure all the children are safe and happy. Due to the increasing amount of pupils and limited space we have, we are able to cater to only 20 pupils per day safely until 4.30pm. This daily care unit will be run in Foundation 1 Rooms (No.16-17 First Floor) by our staff members Ms Ania Mikoszewska (Teaching Assistant) and Ms Beata Domanska –Gigot (Polish Teacher). This service costs 10PLN per day and per child, to provide materials and resources for the children. If you would like your child to use that service please sign up with Mr Olaf (librarian) and pay the required amount. The list for the whole week will be accessible from Monday 9th September in Mr Olaf’s office. Please pick your children up at 4.30 pm When you arrive at the foyer we will call your child through the intercom system and one of our teachers. will escort your child downstairs

Greetings from the IB integration camp! IB students from IB1 and IB2 have got together with their form tutors (Ms Ania and Mr Simon), Mr Bogdan, Ms Asia, and Mr Patrick to spend some time in the heavenly realms of Lubogoszcz. The aim of the trip is in the name: integration. Integration among students; integration between students and teachers; integration and integrity of purpose. We have been blessed with two beautiful days in which to carry out activities, some vigorous, others reflective: bonding games; talent show; parlour games; 'Ms Luboszcz; camp fire; mindfulness training; forest walk; etc. We plan to return with renewed energy into our collective undertaking: to experience the IB programme - warts and all - and to use the attributes of the learner profile to better surmount the obstacles on the way. We understand that the programme whilst it is based on individual achievement can and must be enriched by a collective spirit. As the saying goes, 'no man is an island'. We invite other teachers and parents in particular to sustain this spirit and we look forward to working together for the betterment of our students.

On Wednesday this week, we welcomed visitors from the Danube International School of Vienna. Their IB1 class is a little larger than ours - there were 55 students! Our IB1 acted as local guides and took them around the city centre solving Mr. Lagendijk's "Great Historical Kraków Treasure Hunt", which took them from ulica Retoryka to ulica Karmelicka, Świętego Marka, Floriańska, the Main Square, and the Franciscan Church. The clues were cryptic and based on the city's colourful history. Can you guess which object on the Main Square this one is referring to? (Imagine you are standing by Mitoraj's Head statue)

Once upon a time No numbers had houses of gentries How were they then identified? Keep quiet, as horns possess these sentries.

Answers on last page of newsletter!

All kind of IB values were developed on this visit - risk-takers, knowledgeable, communicative, inquirers, international-mindedness and collaborating with others.

We hope to keep in contact with our friends at the Danube International School of Vienna.

“Fridays for the Future” is a new initiative focused on responding to climate change as a community.

Once a month, classes from Foundation to IB will run activities which help students speak up and take action on the climate crisis. These might include tree planting, second hand clothes sales or writing letters to politicians... and many more.

The aim is to pool the resources and ideas in the school community in order to help us all be more aware and more effective in the actions we choose to take.

The idea was inspired by the climate activist Greta Thunberg and is part of a worldwide movement which recognizes that we are living in a climate emergency and that “business as usual” is not an adequate response.

This term, Fridays for the Future will be September 27th, October 18th, November 29th and December 13th. If you have an idea which will help more of us make more of a difference, please talk to your child’s teacher or email [email protected].
