Seventeenlocalcommunitygroupssharedover$59,000offundingfromtheCityofBelmontlastyear,inthethirdroundofitsCommunityContributionFundprogram.
LaunchedinSeptember2011,theCommunityContributionFundawardsorganisationsorcommunitygroupsthatprovideservicesandsupporttothelocalcommunity.
Initiativesthatwerefundedin2012includedcommunityeventsorfestivals,projectsandthepurchasingofequipmentforasportsmentoringprogramthatsupportsanddevelopsyoungmigrantsleadershipskills;toysandequipmenttosupportlearninganddevelopskillsinchildrenatalocalplaygroup;computerclassestodevelopliteracyandsocialskillsandshadesforalocalJuniors’sportsgroupthatwillimprovesafetyandaccesstovariousactivities.

Smile at the camera – City of Belmont CCTV ProgramTheCityofBelmonthasinstalledanumberofCCTVcamerasincommunityareassuchasparksandshoppingcentresthroughouttheCity.Thecamerasaretheretohelpresidentsfeelsaferwhenvisitingtheseareasandbusinessesfeelmoresecure.
TheCitydoesnotmonitoritsCCTVnetworkbutcanretrievefootageeasilyifanincidentisreported.SolookoutforthesignsthatindicateCCTVisoperatinginanarea.
