WELCOMESilicon Valley Adult Education (SVAE) is part of the Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) and offers adult education classes free of charge or at a low cost to adults 18 years or older. SVAE is a comprehensive adult school offering entry-level and advanced courses in health, technology, and careers in the trades. We also offer FREE English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation for GED and HiSET tests, and High School Diploma (HSD) subject courses. SVAE is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Silicon Valley Adult Education offers free assessment tests to enter ESL, ABE, HSE, and HSD courses, along with academic and career counseling. The Regional Testing Center, located at the Hillsdale main campus, offers state and national tests such as GED, HiSET, CBEST, CSET, CPACE, among many others for the convenience of our students and community.

Medical Terminology Learn and recognize word roots, prefixes, and suffixes used in medical language. Learn how to combine words to create meaningful medical conditions as well as comprehend their definition and know the correct spelling. Emphasis on medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, communication, medical ethics, and legality. This class meets the prerequisites for the Medical Assistant Back Office class.

Medical Assistant This 760-hour medical assistant course is a one year program, consisting of eight modules and a month of externship. Each module meets daily for five to six weeks. Mobile App Design and Computer Coding Learn multimedia design, web development for Internet technology and programming for mobile platforms and devices. Learn the process of designing, coding and deploying mobile applications for use in eCommerce, productivity, enterprise and web purposes. General Educational Development Test (GED®) Provided by the GED Testing Service (GEDTS®)
Whether your next step is a college or job application, the GED® test will help you get there. The GED® credential is accepted by over 97% of colleges and employers. Of the recent GED® graduates, 60% are enrolled in college. On average, people with a high school diploma (GED®) earn $9,000 more per year.

The Silicon Valley Regional Testing Center has extended its services to include GED testing, HiSET testing, and a wide variety of computerized tests required for fellow educators. Test takers have the convenience of picking the time and date of their test that best fits their schedule.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION For ESL, ABE, High School Equivalency Test Preparation, and High School Diploma*
1. Visit Silicon Valley Adult Education, 760 Hillsdale Avenue, Room 1, San Jose 95136 during office hours.
2. Take an assessment test during the days and times listed below.
3. After testing, you will be placed in an available class.
4. *For High School Diploma students only: Obtain official sealed transcript from your last high school
