KG carousel keeps you on Google longer, and changes queries This can create an extremely narrow view of the web

Use structured data tool to check semantic markup
Open Graph *all the things* - OGP Resources
Make sure upstream data sources are correct (Wikipedia, Freebase, other Linked Data sources)
Pay close attention to localized organic results
Ranking #1 for “SEO Consulting” is not too shabby
Google Research Wikilinks Corpus: More Info!
Google releasing the corpus allows data analysis of how entities are mentioned across a large number of sites.
