There are 3

Let’s look more closely at the
head...

Antennae
Antennae
Insects use their antennae to smell,
hear and feel vibrations. They even
use them to find each other.
Eyes
Eyes
Insects eyes are not like ours. Some of them
have eyes with thousands of lenses which
means no one can sneak up behind them!
Mouth
Mouth
Not all insects mouths are the same.
Butterflies drink their food while ants and
beetles chew their food.
Let’s look more closely at the
thorax.
The thorax is where
the insects legs are.
Grasshoppers use their back
legs for jumping.
Crickets use their front legs
for digging.
A praying mantis uses its front
legs for grabbing and holding.
Most insects have four wings like
butterflies and dragonflies.
The thorax is also where an insects
wings are.
The last part of an insects body is
the abdomen.
This is the part that helps
insects breath, digest food
and reproduce.
Amazing abdomen facts...
Stingers are
found in the
abdomen.
Insects breathe through tiny holes in
the sides of their abdomens.
