INSECT-O-CUTOR has been the technological leader in the development of electricfly killers since introducing the original UV light units in the UK in 1962.

Originality of design, quality of manufacture and outstanding performance arejust three of the reasons why more than a million units have now been installedin 40 countries worldwide.

Flying insect control solutionsfor every situation

The new range combines improved styling with

extra power – the most effective INSECT-O-CUTOR

units ever made.

You can select the INSECT-O-CUTOR you need directly

from this brochure, or for an enhanced service you

can consult us and take the WW II SS EE ™ approach.

WW II SS EE ™ is INSECT-O-CUTOR’s revolutionary new

way of looking at a flying insect problem. It stands

for Winged Insect Systematic Elimination – it

describes how we analyse and solve the problem;

it is not a specific

product. For instance,

it takes into account

the varying behaviour

patterns of different

sorts of flying insects.

Also part of the programme is the unique

CRYONITE® product – it exterminates insects using

carbon dioxide, preserving a pesticide-free

environment (see back page).

Our specialists will fully evaluate the situation,

taking the WW II SS EE ™ approach. Their report might

conclude that your problem could be solved by the

installation of one simple unit or, in complex

situations, of a series of different products, each

serving a different purpose. An example of such a

situation is shown here.

Whatever your needs, you can be confident the

WW II SS EE ™ approach will cost-effectively deliver the

results you need.

All INSECT-O-CUTOR fly killers are fitted with thepatented Synergetic™ UVA-Green lamp whichcombines two attractant phosphors to providethese important benefits:

l Catches common House flies, Blow flies and

Fruit flies 30% faster than traditional UVA

lamps (which appears blue to the human eye)

l Attracts a broader range of insects, including

stored product moths, where lamps with only

UVA light are less effective

l Keeps on working longer because the green

light phosphor hardly ever degrades, unlike

UVA lamps which lose up to 40% of their

power after 6 months.

Figure 1 shows the two wave length peaks forUVA-Green light.

Stored product beetles including tobacco beetle, lesser grain beetle, grain beetle, rice weevil, merchant grain beetle and confused flour beetleare attracted to the UVA spectral peak.

Stored product moths, including tropical warehousemoth, warehouse moth, Mediterranean flour mothand Indian meal moth are more attracted to theGreen spectral peak. (Based on ‘Review of the

response of stored product insects to light ofvarious wavelengths, with particular reference tothe design and use of light traps for populationmonitoring’ by D P Rees, Trp.Sci.1985.25, 197-21.)

Common house flies, blow flies and fruit fliesare more attracted to a combination of UVA andGreen light. (Based on independent tests carriedout by the Medical Entomology Centre atCambridge in 1994.)

Figure 2 shows the degradation of the UVAphosphor decreasing to output of 30% over 12months and the green phosphor decreasing tooutput of 95% over the same period. (Based ontests by INSECT-O-CUTOR and manufacturer’sinformation.)

All INSECT-O-CUTOR units are fitted with Synergetic™

UVA-Green lamps as standard.

INSECT-O-CUTOR Smart traps are unique to the WW II SS EE™ concept. They form part of an integrated defencesystem further enhancing the speed of insect elimination by electric fly killers.

Window trapThis glueboard trapworks on theprinciple that onceflies have entered aroom they will oftenfly to the nearestwindow (a source ofUV light). Windowtraps are easy to fixand have a hinged

design for easy maintenance with a removableglueboard and pheromone/food lure.

Interceptor door trap

l All INSECT-O-CUTOR units featuretool-free maintenance

l Killing grids are self cleaning

l Glueboards should be changed atleast every 3 months

l Lamps should be changedevery 12 months

S E R V I C E S C H E D U L EAs a minimum, the fly killer shouldbe serviced annually. We recommendtwice yearly servicing:

l One minor service to clean theunit and check the electricalsystem

l One major service to changethe attractant lamps, in addition

to cleaning and checking theelectrical system.

l The body of the unit should onlyneed occasional wiping over witha damp cloth and mild liquiddetergent. Food-safe detergentthat has no odour must be usedin any food preparation ormanufacturing area.

1 The ideal location for an electric fly killer is at rightangles to the major light source in the room

2 Avoid siting too high – ideally the base of the unitshould be no more than 2 metres from the floor

3 Avoid siting the units where air currents can blowinsects away from the units

4 Units must not be sited so that the light is obscured(if flying insects cannot see it the unit will not bevery effective)

5 Avoid siting above food preparation areas

6 Site between potential entry points and productionareas to intercept pests before they reach sensitiveareas – see WW II SS EE™ diagram on page 3

7 In areas with a particularly aggressive or wetatmosphere, it is recommended that all stainlesssteel units are used to prevent premature corrosion

8 For areas with a glass-free policy, use shatterprooflamps

9 And finally don’t forget to change the lamp every 12months – preferably just before start of the fly season!

The Interceptordoor trap works onthe principle thatflies normally flyupwards whenentering a room. The trap is ceilingmounted with aremovableglueboard and

pheromone/food lure, both hidden from view.

Area of coverage is given as a guide only and other factors including the use of the area and the number of entry pointsshould be taken into account when choosing a particular unit.

TRANSFORMER INFORMATION

INSECT-O-CUTOR electric fly killers arefitted with a custom-built transformerproviding a constant 4,000 volts. Thisprevents insects from sticking to the

grid or exploding into the air andensures a most efficient method

of eliminating flies.
