Many garages have been holding off on buying big-ticket items while the government pondered whether to reduce the frequency of the MOT. Thankfully that issue is behind us now and the message from Euro Car parts is: invest now to secure your future.In a written ministerial statement on 1 February 2012, Transport Secretary Justine Greening, said: “Having listened closely to the very many views put forward and considered the available evidence, I have decided that I am not going to carry out further work in relation to relaxing the first test date or the frequency of testing.”Euro Car parts Managing Director, Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia, welcomed the development, but questioned why it has taken so long.“This announcement came out of the blue and it is very welcome – a total victory for the logic of annual testing for vehicles over three years old (3-1-1),” he said. “However, the ridiculous mooted change to 4-2-2 should never have been back on the agenda in the first place.“Euro Car parts played an active role in the Pro-MOTe campaign and I personally raised the issue with Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George osborne last summer. We have wasted precious time and money lobbying hard to explain why meddling with the MOT frequency was clearly a crazy and dangerous idea. The implications for road safety were obvious, not to mention the adverse effect on preventative maintenance – meaning more breakdowns – and the potentially disastrous consequences for employment in the garage trade. I am mystified as to why this issue raised its head again when the last Labour government rightly

concluded it was a non-starter. Good sense has prevailed (again) and I just hope the argument has been won for good this time. Garages can now go ahead and invest in their businesses with confidence.”

The Euro Car Parts single valve nitrogen pressure test set allows for a very quick and reliable nitrogen pressure test on an automotive R-134a air conditioning system. The large single gauge (80mm @ 1% accuracy) reads easily and accurately. The red dial pointer makes pressure drop a no-brainer.

The unit has three positions:1 Allow nitrogen pressure to enter2 Monitor pressure decay (or stability)3 Release nitrogen pressure to atmosphere By manually positioning the red pointer over the regulated pressure, a pressure decay is easily monitored. The unique one gauge set up allows for easy reading of both the high and low pressure sides in one glance. The release damper makes the release safety and noiseless.
