• Involves significant input on behalf of both partners in designing and undertaking the projects. • College know-how and /or background IP required to deliver the project.• Company pays the college a standard rate for the work undertaken.• Both parties share risk equally.• College partner owns the foreground intellectual property.

• The company has specified a significant body of work to be undertaken.• The college will provide a research service. • The company pays the market rate for the work undertaken.• In this instance the company is carrying all of the risk.• The company owns any resulting foreground intellectual property.
