Choi on Sunday. Furyk’s final-round 69 left him with a score of 13 under par 271 as he claimed his 14th PGA TOUR(r) victory. With his victory, Furyk earned $972,000 and 500 FedEx points. Two rising young players, Bubba Watson at 11 under, Nick Watney at 9 under and 2009 champion Retief Goosen at 8-under rounded out the top five. Goosen, like Choi, was denied in a bid for a third championship on the Copperhead. In his post-tournament press conference, Furyk talked about winning the Transitions against a field unsurpassed in a regular PGA TOUR event this year. “Now that you’re around all week (and see who is in the locker room), it was a very good field,” he said. “I think that there are always a few things that draw good fields. It starts first and foremost with the golf course.” “The guys walk out of here, whether they have played well or not, and you know it is a good golf course. The people here are friendly. Transitions has done a great job for this tournament. I’m pretty proud of the fact that I’ve played on a very difficult golf course against a lot of good players and was able to win.” The start of the final round was delayed by lightning and another delay suspended play for nearly four hours later in the day. When play resumed at 2:45 pm, there was some question whether the tournament could be completed before nightfall, but with the aid of late-breaking evening sun, Furyk holed his final putt with ample daylight. For Furyk it was his first win in an official PGA TOUR event since 2007. He said that he played “phenomenal golf” for the first 14 holes while never losing the lead that he took into the final round. Then, in The Snake Pit, the testing closing stretch of holes, he had some shakes. “I think my nerves bothered me a few times out there,” he admitted, but he was able to get up and down from the bunker at 17, and survived a trip into the woods at 18 to close out Choi. The 2010 Club Championship marCh 5-7Th

Weekend play allowed more of Innisbrook’s Golfers to participate in this years Club Championship. This year 92 players enjoyed three days of play on Copperhead, Island and the North courses. The 2010 Club Champions were Nic Wahl and Barbara Wellard. Congratulations Nic and Barbara!

During the awards dinner on Sunday, March 7th, past Club Champions were honored.
