For the 24 th Annual Condé Nast Traveler: 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards, nearly 30,000 readers cast more than 8 million votes for domestic and international cities, islands, airlines and cruise ships that made their travel a truly memorable and remarkable experience. For the second year in a row, in the United States hotel category, the Inn and Spa at Loretto made the list, but this year it moved up 54 spots to place no. 27 out of 200. With an overall rating of 91.4, the Inn was the highest rated hotel in the entire state of New Mexico. Additionally, for the 20 th year in a row, Santa Fe ranked among the “Top 10 U.S. Cities,” capturing the no. 3 spot on the list. Every year since 1988, Condé Nast Traveler readers have taken the Readers’ Choice Survey to identify the top cities, islands, hotels, transportation, and resorts both domestically and internationally. The online questionnaire contains lists of candidates in various categories (Cities, Hotels, etc.). Individual candidates are judged by relevant criteria for each and those that receive a required minimum number of responses are deemed eligible for a Readers’ Choice Award. This year, 28,876 responses were tabulated. Candidates are rated on five key components, including 1) food/dining, 2) location, 3) overall design, 4) rooms, and 5) service.
