Stringz-n-Thingz…

Well friendz, the warm weather appears to be making its final push to take over! We performed at our home base of The Blue and Gray Bar & Grill in Gettysburg for the Vernal Equinox! It was a wonderful show, and you could all but FEEL the renewal of life beginning!! This is a great time of year for another reason for me…it means more

electric BH gigs!!! I absolutely love the honesty & purity of performing acoustic folk-rock, but I must admit to really diggin’ in on an electric guitar for an exploratory improvisational solo with Alex on the full trap kit driving things into a frenzy!! THANK YOU, Leo Fender!!! I very much hope to spend some time with you at a performance this season, and share in the magic of live music!!

THANK YOU for your support!! ~ ZigZag

The Key is…

It may not feel like it now, but Spring is finally here! Time to break out the shades, coolers, and flip-flops! With this new season come some great music festivals that we hope you can attend. The “In and Out the Garden We Go” festival will be held in Morrisville, PA at Snipes Farm on June 14th and 15th and will have a theme this year. Each band will perform a Grateful Dead (Jerry Garcia, etc.) album in its entirety. I'm really looking forward to this event to see what albums will be showcased! Another great gathering will be on June 22nd at Ross Mill Farm in Rushland, PA...”PiggyPalooza 3”! I know last year was a huge success and I got to meet a bunch of great musicians. All proceeds benefit the Pig Placement Network. This is a working farm with plenty of room for camping for the night. We thank you all for your continued support of BlackHand...without you, this wouldn't

be possible! See ya’ soon! ~ John

The Drum Circle…

As you all know, I have been fortunate enough for my musical ride through this life to take me to many interesting

places and to experience many exciting things. I played in a pit orchestra in Vegas, I opened for quite a few popular "hair metal" bands of the '80's, & met a lot of great (and not so great) musicians. These days, I am privileged to share the

stage with some of the most amazing musicians I have ever played with. To have this much fun with people you love and getting to do what you love, is incredible. On top of

that, I have been lucky to meet and work with other musicians - ever expanding my musical family. I was asked to do some studio work for a great local band...Very exciting stuff that I will reveal to you when the final

product is done! I had the incredibly humbling experience to lead a drum circle for a group of breast cancer survivors. We had ladies from 32 to 73 participate! Their courage as

survivors, their courage to join in a new activity that can be intimidating, and just let themselves go with it, was something I will never forget. I hope this spring brings you all new experiences. I hope we will share some new, and

familiar, experiences together. As always, thank you for

your love and support! ~ Alex

The Bomb Shelter…

Ohhhh man, outdoor music season is right around the

corner! I am really excited this year because not only is BlackHand playing a few awesome festivals, but I actually

get to attend live rock shows for the first time in THREE years. On the agenda: my first Phish show (thank you Wentworth for pushing me to go), Phil Lesh in one form or

another, Victor Wooten, Yonder Mountain String Band, & well, we shall see where else the summer takes me! While I am really excited to get some new inspiration from those great bands, I am really looking forward to being able to

apply some of these new experiences to my playing.

BlackHand is constantly growing and changing, and I am

more often than not holding on for dear life, and so I hope

some new inspiration will be a springboard to delve deeper into my craft. John, Alex, and Zig…especially Zig, have opened me up to so many new things in the world of bass

guitar, I hope I can start to give back to them. I can't wait to see some more live music, but it will never compare to the

rush of playing live with BlackHand. ~ Kyle
