Location The location of the film will have to be in a house, due to the nature of the ritual game that the characters play. The house will be an empty unfurnished house to give it a sinister atmosphere as it has an abandoned feel to it. We will carry out recces to find the appropriate house for our film. It will have to be a house with many rooms to allow the characters to move around freely – the house used in ‘Playing with the Devil’ is an appropriate example of the type of location we need due to the amount of rooms and places to hide in it.

LightingThe general lighting of the film will be dark, as this is a convention of the horror genre. The use of darkness throughout the film gives it an ominous and scary effect as you won't know what's lurking in the dark - the Midnight Man could be anywhere and so puts the audience on edge. We will also use high-key lighting within the film to ensure the lighting isn't too dark and the candle that is used as a prop within the film can also act as a light source, as the characters have to hold a candle each through the entirety of the game. The dark lighting in ‘Night Night Nancy’ will be our source of inspiration as they successfully produced dark, ominous low-key lighting in their film whilst ensuring the audience can still see what’s occurring through the use of high-key lighting through the doorways.

CostumesAll the characters will wear casual, comfy clothes as they are meant to be at a sleepover. This is also draw emphasis to the fact that they are just normal everyday kids who are hanging out together as friends and decided to experiment with ritual game they heard of. This is a situation that our target audience can relate to as they have presumably attended sleepovers with their friends and it is not uncommon for them to test out things that are said to mess with spirits, such as an Ouija board.
