Infrastructure : Now
Road
The Public Works Department responsible for maintaining and
expanding the state highway systems and major district roads.
Traffic in Kerala has been growing at a rate of1011% every
year, resulting in high traffic and pressure on the roads.
Kerala's road density is nearly four times the national average,
reflecting the state's high population density.
Kerala's annual total of road accidents is among the nation's
highest.
The accidents are mainly result of the narrow roads and
irresponsible driving

Inland water transport in Kerala Kerala, with numerous backwaters, is one of the States in India
where waterways are successfully used for commercial Inland
Water Transport. The transportation is mainly done with country craft and
passenger vessels.
There are 67 navigable rivers in Kerala.
The total length of the Inland Waterways in the State is
1687 km.
The main constraints to the expansion of Inland Water transport
in the State are lack of depth in the waterway caused by silting,
lack of maintenance of navigation system and bank protection,
accelerated growth of the water hyacinth, lack of modern inland
craft terminals and cargo handling system. A 205 kmcanal, National waterways, runs between Kottapuram and
Kollam

Vision 2030
Developing a road and rail infrastructure project that will be a back
bone for the development of entire Kerala.
6 line road 3 line on each side( with provision for future widening)
1 Service road on each side
This will be used for motorcycles & Autorikshaws. Also for shortdistance travel and for entering and exiting from highway.
Since two and three wheelers will ply through service road, it will
considerably reduce the accidents. Most of the lives lost in our
roads are by two and three wheeler vehicles meeting accidents
with big vehicles. Foot Path for pedestrians & Bicycle Lane (will help cycling
culture) will beadjacent to the service road

2 line railway track for high speed train
After the commissioning of Vallarpadom
Transshipment terminal the existing railway line is
congested
Now itself Kerala railway network is running at 130%
of its installed capacity. Hence new passenger trains
cannot be introduced
The railway system can be implemented with support
of any foreign countries like Japan, Taiwan, or France
who are already experienced in high steed train.
Railway station will be built nearby to major town. This will increase the number of peoples using railway
system as it will be fast and cheap.
