2018 Summer Opportunities Fair Thank You The 2018 Summer Opportunities Fair was held Thursday, January 18, and Friday, January 19, in the FSU University Center. Approximately 500students participated in the fair and learned more about the opportunities and services available to them during the summer months. Fight For First This Saturday As #4 Bulldogs Host Lake Superior State In GLIACShowdown
Big Rapids, Mich. - A heavyweight bout takes place inside Ferris State University's Jim Wink Arena this Saturday (Jan. 27) as the nationally fourth-ranked Bulldog men's basketball squad squares off against league rival Lake Superior State in the "Fight For First" in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs, who are presently 20-1 overall this season, hold a one-game lead over the Lakers in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(GLIAC) standings heading into the 1 p.m. (ET) showdown. The women's contest will follow at approximately 3 p.m.
Earlier this year, Lake Superior State handed the Bulldogs their only loss of the season in an exciting 79-74 decision at Bud Cooper Gymnasium inSault Ste. Marie. The two foes have been the dominant programs in the GLIAC North in recent memory as they have combined to win five of the lastsix league titles.
Presently, FSU is 10-1 overall in GLIAC action under fifth-year head coach Andy Bronkema following a hard-fought 87-81 road win at archrival GrandValley State on Saturday evening. LSSU is 9-2 in conference play under veteran head coach Steve Hettinga and is currently 15-4 overall this year.
Along with being fifth in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) D2 National Poll last week, FSU was also fourth in the Division IISports Information Directors (D2SIDA) Rankings with LSSU listed 23rd in the poll.
On Saturday, the home game will open up a tripleheader inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex as the Bulldog men's and women's basketball teamshost Lake Superior State in afternoon action before Ferris State Hockey takes on Michigan Tech across the hall inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena at7:07 p.m. (ET).
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as a large and potential sellout crowd is expected for the GLIAC North Division showdown.Prices are $7 for adult general admission along with $5 for FSU Faculty/Staff, Seniors (ages 65 and up) along with students (age 3-17 years). All FSUstudents earn free admission with a valid student ID card.

Travel grants are for faculty travel to conferences, symposia, etc. occurring during the months of June through November 2018. Faculty Research Grant Applications Open The Faculty Research Committee is currently accepting applications for the second period for the 17-18 funding cycle. The Faculty Research Grant Program has been established by the university to provide support for board-appointed faculty interested in engaging inresearch. All board-appointed faculty (that is, tenured and tenure-track faculty) are eligible to apply. It is expected that faculty who are granted supportthrough the Faculty Research Grant Program will successfully complete a noteworthy project or progress to a sufficient extent so as to qualify forcontinuing long-term support from an outside source. Items for which support may be requested include:
SecretarialStudent wagesMaterials and suppliesContractual/technical servicesEquipmentTravel costs (see proposal guidelines for limitations)
These grants are intended to act as a catalyst for faculty involvement in research activity and not for development of classroom material. We particularlyencourage application from faculty members that have not yet participated in this program, and those that plan to involve Ferris students in their projects.
