Transcript of InformatIon Sheet H6000 Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)
The School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM) has con-tracted with Deep Ocean Exploration and Research (DOER) Marine for the design and construction of a new remotely oper-ated vehicle (ROV). The DOER Marine H6000 ROV will comple-ment the capabilities of the existing fleet of UH manned, remotely operated, and autonomous underwater vehicles and, with a depth rating of 6000 m, will extend the vertical reach of exploration. The new vehicle will provide operational support
and complement the science carried out by the human operat-ed vehicles (HOV) Pisces IV and Pisces V. Designed for maximum maneuverability and mission flexibility, the H6000 ROV will have the ability to collect specimens; characterize substrates; capture video and still images of activities and surveys; moni-tor water column properties; install, connect and test seafloor equipment; and perform other specialized tasks.
