INFORMATION PACKET

G U I D E L I N E S F O R F L O R A L D E S I G N E R S

This year’s theme is The Gardens of Tower Hill, celebrating the 175th anniversary of the Worcester County Horticultural Society. Your arrangement should seek to represent one of Tower Hill’s gardens: the Apple Orchard, Cottage Garden, Entry Garden, Field of Daffodils, Inner Park, Lawn Garden, Limonaia, Pliny’s Allee, Moss Steps, Systematic Garden, Orangerie, Vegetable Garden, Secret Garden, Winter Garden, Wildlife Refuge Pond, Wildlife Garden, the Youth Garden, and the Court: the Garden Within Reach. For more information on our gardens, please visit www.towerhillbg.org/about-the-gardens/. Your arrangement should fit within the basic confines of the pedestal. The goal is to create an arrangement which is stable, easy to maintain, leak-proof, and composed of fresh flowers, plant material, and a container.• Please use freshly cut plant material. All artificial materials are prohibited, as are draping, props, etc.

This includes materials in the vase and around it. The use of dried materials is acceptable, but they cannot be painted, sprayed, glittered, etc. If an arrangement contains these items, it will be removed from the exhibit.

• The following materials are prohibited: plants listed on the Massachusetts Prohibited Plant List (mass.gov/agr), artificial plant material and other non-natural decorations. This includes natural materials such as bark that has been spray painted or glitter applied, or is otherwise altered.

• Please note that a specific location for your arrangement is not guaranteed, and may be moved by Tower Hill staff as needed.

• Flowers and plant material must be properly conditioned to last through the 3 days of the event.• Please be sure that your container does not leak and is stable. Please test your container with water

and a plant material similar to what will be used to be sure it works.• All staging, including pedestals, will be provided by Tower Hill.• Tower Hill will do all it can to keep all entries secure, but cannot be responsible for loss or damage to

exhibitor’s property.• Tower Hill will provide signage for each display.• Watering instructions should be left with Tower Hill staff if your design will need to be maintained.
