Information Leaflet for BS Admissions

BS Programs The following two undergraduate programs are being offered at PIEAS:

1. BS Electrical Engineering 2. BS Mechanical Engineering

Eligibility Criteria o At least 60% marks or equivalent in both Matriculation/O level and Intermediate/A level examinations

with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects. o Candidates with pre medical background, who have given additional paper of Mathematics are also

eligible to apply. o Those waiting for their results may also apply. However, the intermediate/A level result with at least

60% marks or equivalent is required at the time of joining the BS program.

Ineligibility Criteria Anyone having any of the following deficiencies is not eligible to apply for admission at PIEAS:

o Having less than 60% marks in Matric and FSc. o Failed/not appeared in any subject in FSc Part I/II. o Having less than 60% marks in O/A level as per equivalence certificate issued by IBCC. o Diploma holders are not eligible.

How to Apply

* Application processing fee is non refundable.

On Line: Preferably apply online; application forms should be submitted on line at PIEAS web site. Copy of online bank deposit slip will be generated after submission of application form. Save a copy of the

bank receipt for your record as well.

Off Line

The form can be downloaded from the PIEAS web site http://www.pieas.edu.pk . Copy of online bank deposit slip is also available at PIEAS website. Save a copy of the bank receipt for your record as well.

For both modes of application form submission, the application processing fee must be deposited in the PIEAS University online Account No. 0010002084620041 (Title of Account: PIEASAPF) Allied Bank Limited, Cabinet Division Branch (Code No. 0793), Islamabad. Application form along with the Bank receipt of processing fee must reach the Registrar Office not later than the advertised deadline. However, there will be no bank service charges for submission of processing fee through any branch of ABL.

Documents Required with the Application Form The following documents must reach Registrar Office not later than the advertised deadline at the following address and preferably, documents should be sent through Pakistan Post, TCS, OCS or Leopard services.

* For OLevel / ALevel students equivalence certificate of Olevel from Inter Board Chairman Committee (IBCC) is mandatory.

** Applications without above mentioned documents will not be entertained.

Selection Procedure Selection of candidates is made on the basis of Matric /O level, F.Sc./A level grades and written test as per

following: PIEAS Written Test 60% Matric 15% F.Sc or F.Sc (Part I) 25% OLevel / ALevel 40% of OLevel equivalence from Inter Board Chairman Committee (IBCC)

Test shall be conducted in major cities of Pakistan as mentioned on the application forms. The test will be MCQs based on English Comprehension, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Sample paper is available at PIEAS website.

Admission on the basis of SAT Scores

PIEAS has reserved some seats for admission in BS programs through SAT scores.

All Pakistani nationals of both Matric / F.Sc. or O / A level streams are eligible to compete on the basis of SAT score.

Admission shall be based on SAT II result of three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics level II)

The SAT score should be at least 2000 or more to be eligible for admission Merit list on the basis of SAT score shall be prepared separately for admission in BS programs. SAT scores may be sent to Registrar, PIEAS at the latest by the deadline mentioned in admission

advertisement. The PIEAS institutional code to receive SAT scores is 7272.

Orientation Program Once the applicant is selected for PIEAS, he/she will undergo an orientation program. The objective of the orientation program is to familiarize the students with the curricular and co curricular environment at PIEAS.

Financial Support Need based financial support in the form of tuition fee waiver is available subject to satisfactory

performance. Pak USAID merit and need based scholarships are also available for needy students. For eligibility and

other details, visit PIEAS website. The scholarship application form along with necessary documents must reach Financial Aid Office (FAO), PIEAS, Nilore, Islamabad not later than the advertised deadline.

Cancellation of Admission If a student is found involved in any undesirable or illegal activities, or provides false information regarding his/ her academic background, PIEAS reserves the right to cancel the admission of that student at any stage of his/ her study.

Fee Refund Policy The fee refund policy is as follows:

Complete refund after deduction of admission charges if the request for refund is made up to first week of convene of classes.

50% refund, if the request for refund is made in the 2nd week of convene of classes. No refund after 2nd week.

[1]: The children of PAEC employees in SPS-7 or below (serving and retired) who are in dire need of financial support shallbe granted 50% concession in tuition fee and they shall also be eligible for any financial support / scholarship if theymeet the approved criteria.

[2]: 25% of the fee collected shall be deposited in a separate Head as financial support fund for needy students.[3]: For 4/8 week extension in the final semester project, half of the tuition fee for the final semester project credit hours shall

be charged. For extra semesters, a student has to pay fee as per fee of a regular semester.[4]: Pakistan Educational Research Network (PERN)[5]: Minimum charges of one month shall apply for availing accommodation less than a month.[6]: For unauthorized stay, Rs. 300 / per night per person shall be charged up to one month and after one month, Rs. 600/-

per night per person shall be charged.
