FunCTiOnAliTy OF monument hIllThe City of Fremantle hosts three
Commemorative Services at Monument Hill
each year.
• AnZAC Day Dawn Service
25th April at 5am
• Battle for Australia-
1st Wednesday in September at 11am
• Remembrance Day:
11th november at 10.30am
non-commemorative events are not
permitted on the Monument itself.
Weddings are welcomed in the park and
parking is available.
lIst of monuments• R.A.n Corvettes Association (WA):
Memorial was erected in 1984
• u.S. Submariners’ Association:
Erected in 1967
• Royal naval Association (Perth):
Erected in 1994
• netherlands Ex-Services Association,
erected in 1999
• Royal Marines Association, erected in
1997 Submariners Association Australia:
Erected in 1972
• Allied Merchant Seamen’s
Association erected in 1995
• R.A.n. in Vietnam Memorial was
erected in 30th november 2002
memorIal InformatIonThe main memorial at 14m in height is
constructed from Donnybrook stone and was
built and funded by the citizens of Fremantle in
1928 to commemorate the 59,330 Australians
killed or posted as missing in action in WW1.
The original stone obelisk or navigational “Trig”
located on this position enabled shipping to
safely navigate the coast and Harbour entry.
**Take the Cat bus or the Tram from Fremantle
CBD to the top of the Monument for the best
views in Fremantle.**
