  • Introduction

Disasters caused by nature, man or terrorism

destroy lives and livelihoods and produce losses.

They effect millions of people every year, reach or

    poor.

Our duty is to fight against

    disasters by using all means

    and resources, including

    science and technology that is

    our arm and power.

  • Introduction

To prepare and act against disasters the crucial requirements are men,

  • Challenges

GEPSUS deals with threats caused by uncontrolled emission of air pollutants.

GEPSUS processes Enviro-Geo information/data to protect and save people and prevent and reduce losses in areas affected by toxic gases accidents.

GEPSUS focus on Urban Scale Environments.

GEPSUS simulates hypothetic accidents, estimates and monitors real ones.

GEPSUS is a result of team work

    University of

Montenegro, ME MoD ME Graphitech, IT

    University of

    Maribor, SI

    EMESCO,IL Hereby University, SI

  • Challenges

GEPSUS addresses the following sources of hazardous gases:

Industrial plants Storage and transport facilities

Terrorist attacks Fires (with emphasis on urban)

  • Challenges

    Could we imagine before?

    Podgorica, 29. Aug. 2012, PM10

    concentration was 118,2 µg/m3

    behind a limit of 50 µg/m3 !!!!

    It Could Happen Tomorrow

    Aluminum Plant (KAP)

    Thermo Power Plant Pljevlja

  • Challenges

The pollution is spread over, several critical objects CIs are affected . We should to

have clear picture about situation in order to react timely.

    It Could Happen Tomorrow

    Real accident caused by uncontrolled

    emission (traffic crash, valve defect,

or terrorist attack) of toxic gass in

    urban environment , as example

    Podgorica.

  • GEPSUS answer

Integrated system for simulation, monitoring and estimation of air pollution accidents. The Centre will incorporate GIS, Computer Modeling and Simulation, and Creditable Decision Making.

Simulation and training centre in Podgorica

    Pilot work and sustainability

  • Achievements

    1. Modeling, simulation and visualization software, server

    and desktop version (MATLAB, C++).

    Scenarios TPP Pljevlja

  • Achievements

    2. Modeling, simulation and visualization software, PDA

    version.

  • Achievements

    3. Modeling, simulation and visualization software,

    dynamic version for urban environment.

    Navier–Stokes equations, CFD

  • Achievements 4. Decision making protocols and rules

Example of safe route in case of KAP accident Affected critical object

  • Achievements

    5. Wearable system for simulation and monitoring,

    hardware and software.

  • Lessons Learned

SPS is very fear and useful project.

Deals with very concrete and fruitful projects.

    Gives opportunity for young people.

Involves end user from very beginning and provide him with

    high tech solutions.

    Stimulates innovations.

    Stimulates team work.

Has a simple administrative procedure from NATO side.

On the other side, complicated and not clear administrative

procedure from Partner country is a risk for project.

  • Instead conclusion

To prepare against disasters, one of the most effective

    and crucial requirements is information.

This is the core of GEPSUS.

    Thank you for your attention.

We appreciate your questions, suggestions etc?
