The Open Bench Project can provide your corporate brand with a

valuable platform, enhancing your presence in the community.

OBP is a shared learn/work facility in Portland, Maine. Our aim is to cultivate a community of makers by providing access to studio/work space, tools and learning resources.

We provide an opportunity for makers of all types – amateurs, professionals, inventors, hobbyists, entrepreneurs, youth, artists, scientists, engineers – to explore ideas, hone skills and collaborate with thought partners across multiple disciplines. We strive to help them explore, question and critique the built world around them. We believe the act of making encourages critical thinking and fosters confidence and curiosity – qualities that enrich individual lives as well as our communities.

OBP is a refuge to makers, hackers, tinkerers, and industrious doers. It is an environment sparking with possibilities. We serve as a crossroads for learners, tools, projects and expert mentors.

Please join us in our mission to change the operating terrain for these makers. Contribute to our organization as we work to close a critical workforce gap – indirectly by promoting engineering, and directly by offering necessary access and training.
