Through my product research I discovered a common

convention of my genre is a journey shown within the music

video, usually of the artist. I intend to do something similar in

my video, not just because of the genre, but also because a

journey would link it well with the lyrics to my song; ‘When

you drive me home’.

Colour

In the Imagine Dragons music video I researched

there was an obvious use of specific colours to

further develop representations and to work as

signifiers. I feel that this was really effective in

helping to portray the mood of the song so I am

going to do something similar in my own

production, especially as contrasting colours would

work really well with the lyrics.

Light and ShadowDifferent uses of lights and shadows are also commonly used and

look sophisticated in the music videos, such as Ben Howard’s ‘Keep Your Head Up’ video, so I will be manipulating these to create

different representations. Silhouettes will also fit in well, especially with the lyrics; ‘Your silver light, dissolves the night’.

Locations

In all the music videos I researched

there were a range of different

locations, however I feel most inspired

by the Ben Howard music video which

uses only a few different locations

which are all quite scenic. I intend to

shoot some scenes in my video out in

the countryside or in a field.
